Ye lets hope he's not bullshitting I just thought it strange. Against Huddersfield, according to some, the forwards were lazy and not making runs for Tom to slot these balls through. Against Wolves the forwards were makng fantastic runs but we didnt have Tom to find them. I agree our forwards dont run the channels enough but i really struggle to remember a great through ball from Tom. Some lovely sprayed passes to the Elmo on the wing but not defence splitting passes.
But what Meyler lacks is presence, which is surprising as he's not afraid to kick someone. Cattermole is a pit bull, Meyler is a Jack Russell without the yap.
Agree with the pit-bull aggression aspect - I was more thinking of the energy/perpetual motion side of Meyler's game. Being more vocal would certainly add to Meyler's effectiveness. Oh for an Ashbee.
Here we go again. That's wrong, try challenging your thinking on why you believe that is by looking at how it might be achieved with a bit of tweaking. Was it Moses that gave you the formations in tablets of stone and told you they had to be obeyed to the letter? Snodgrass is worth developing a lopsided 3-5-2 to accommodate him, I just wish someone would have the balls to try it on this run in.
Aluko's goal against Bristol City was from a Huddlestone through ball over the top. But yes it hasn't happened often enough over three years of him being here. Moses is another first pick, if you played Snodgrass on the right of a 352 then you'd have to drop Moses. None of it quite fits together whatever formation we pick.
But you want two strikers (rightly ) and you say that leaves you stymied, so search for a solution, what would you do?
Gregs Dawson Davies Harry Dave..........................Robbo Livermore Meyler Snodders Diamonde Hernandez
Apologies - I actually attend home games on a very regular basis, so this post is only of interest to others of this ilk. There is no armchair manager bullshit or tactical chat. Forgot to post this on Friday night - for the second game in a row there was a live DJ outside the main entrance before pumping out modern music to the bewilderment of the flaskers round that part of the ground. Made a refreshing change from the Floral Dance **** of that brass band that sometimes plays there. Nice to see someone attempting to improve the atmosphere before and after games outside the ground. As always with City these days, however, there is summat wrong- in this case, the location. Should really have been for the flaskless punters in the N or E stands who would appreciate it more. But well done anyway.
Meyler and Jake combine well in the middle, despite it being a poor performance on Friday night, you could see both of them hunting players down in the middle of the park and numerous times broke up attacks, I personally thought Livermore had a good game, and Meyler despite his passing being unpredictable, put his foot in where it hurt. It`s almost as if Jake knows that if `i don`t get him` Meyler will. The stats back what I have been advocating for most of the season in that this is our best central midfield combination. What confused me was the choice of Bruce over `Arry, and Elmo over Snoddy, Bruce was culpable for their goal, instead of putting his foot through it, he stuck his leg out like a twig hanging off a tree in the wind, shocking ! I sincerely hope that the dynamic duo stick together for the remainder of the season, for me this is our best chance of results, bring Snoddy and `Arry in and lets give it a go. The front two should be left the same, let them develop something in these final five games before play offs arrive, we would still have Thudd, Diame, Aluko, Akpom on the bench to come on and change the game.
Possibly so but I'm hoping the fact that he's now publicly stated that he's off if we don't achieve promotion may just have pissed Bruce off enough for him to leave him out, and leave Meyler and Diomande in. That would be the sensible option, however Bruce isn't often sensible.
