Crystal Palace haven't won in God knows how long, not much pressure on us other than securing our top 4 spot, which is pretty secure, so hopefully a nice comfortable victory.
Well that's good, at least now the element of that big shock is over, as teams usually find that win out of no where against us. Back to normal service for them by tomorrow.
Probably. Now the title is near impossible you'll play like a title-winning team. Just pointing out the very obvious error in your OP
Perspective is a funny thing. If we win today we will be only 3 points behind Tottenham who have according to many fans and pundits have 'had a fanastic Season'. We have on the other hand been terrible/awful/toothless etc.. and yet the reality is only 3 points.
I was being sarcastic. The post saying you should "be going all out for a win" is akin to me saying the grass is green today.
I don't understand the point of posts like this. First of all, who actually cares about what Spurs do? Honestly. Whether they finish ahead of us or not, both teams look like they're going to have trophyless seasons. Also, Spurs were not expected to be 2nd in the league. Even if I personally didn't think we would, most felt that we should have been winning the title this season. Yet we are 13 points behind Leicester City & back in 4th place (as it stands). To try and compare the two aims of the clubs is like chalk and cheese. Spurs have had a good league season considering no-one at all expected them to be 2nd at this stage. Although I think some of their fans wil be disappointed that they will (likely) lose out on the title to Leicester City, this was always going to be a transitional season for them considering the relatively young ages of their squad. However, we aren't even in that position. It reflects badly on us that we're even behind both teams in the first place.
They are having a fantastic season, which puts things into more perspective, Arsenal's poor season is there fantastic season.
If Arsenal win today, it will be out 500th premier league victory, no doubt the Wenger brigade will be celebrating that as a trophy, another one of those stats they will love to bring up alongside our consistency into getting to Europe. lol. Wenger be like, we have shown zeeeee spirit and mental strength today by beating Crystal Palace. Viva Arsenal we are so great.
Where is everybody? Is nobody excited about this game? We have a great opportunity to solidify our coveted top 4 spot, this is breathtaking edge of your seat stuff everybody! Common everyone, Wenger and Gazidis keep telling us how great it is that we always get top 4 and how we're such a great big club for doing it. for my part, I'm so bloody excited for this game, can't contain myself, I'm gonna celebrate like it's 99 when we get top 4 for the 1 zillionth time in a row. In Wenger we trust!
Like I said it's all about perspective. Fans are right that this Season was an opportunity with the other big boys out of the race. However I find it rather odd that City and Chelsea capitulated worse than ourselves yet receive a fraction of the criticsm. It's a weird situation. Tottenham - Probably finish 2nd. Great Season! Arsenal - Probably 3rd - maybe 2nd. Poor Season, Gutless, Need a new manager, New players. Chelsea - Total capitulation. Squad is falling apart. - Very little in the media. Man City - Probably finish 4th. Massively expensive squad. Surely this a a huge for Pellegrini too with Chelsea out of the race? United - Massively expensive Squad. Will probably miss out on Champions League. - Where's the media attack on United? Liverpool - always the favourites of the media. These guys are not anywhere near a Champions League place yet all I'm hearing about is what a great job Klopp is doing. Arsenal fans are rightly upset that haven't won the league in a while and that we blew a good opportunity this time round. However there is a disproportionate amount of criticism towards us. Particularly when you look at how the other 'TOP' clubs have done.
The main difference is that City have won the title twice in the last 5 seasons, Chelski won it last year etc, we have gone more than 10 years without winning it, hmmm, you keep going on about perspective, and just failed to totally see that perspective which everyone is coming from? If we had won the league once in recent times, we would not be receiving such criticism, but because it's been 12 years since our last league victory, and with everyone blowing it this year, we had the best opportunity, and we STILL bottled it. Perspective mate, ****s sakes!
BBC explained it well: Arsenal v Crystal Palace (16:00 BST) League leaders in January, Arsenal looked well placed to end a 12-year wait to be champions of England. Since then, it has all rather got away from them, as it so often has in the past. A run of just four wins in 12 Premier League matches means that they start today's home game against Crystal Palace lying in fourth place. Not everyone of an Arsenal persuasion is entirely satisfied with this - as one banner on display in the away end at West Ham last weekend showed.
City and Chelsea have acted on their poor seasons by getting new managers in. Plus they are proven recent title winners and are also proven to be clubs who aren't happy sitting back winning nothing. We on the other hand are proven title losers and proven to be happy sitting back winning nothing.
