Because van Gaal never picks Herrera, Carrick is aged and doesn't last a full match plus has been injured a lot, Schweiny has been injured far too much and is only good for 20 mins anyway. What makes you think we have a good midfield?
Ah right, if Carrick still had the legs (nothing wrong with his brain or ability), and Herrera was picked every game then yes, we would have a good midfield. Morgan has started to show some of the form he had at Southampton in the last few games, if he gets back to that and Herrera gets picked every game we will have a very good midfield. If Perreira gets more game time with Herrera and or Morgan we will have a good midfield. We need a manager that will use the players in their correct positions and then we will have a pretty decent team, until then we will be a slightly better version of Liverpool.
If you want an example of our manager just look at the WestHam game, we started with..... A holding midfielder at right back A right winger at centre forward A right winger at 10 A 10 at right wing A centre forward at left wing A midfielder as centre half A centre half as left back As players got injured or tired we changed things, we brought on......... A left winger to replace the right winger at centre forward A right winger to replace the defensive midfielder at right back We won so not too many complained, but many noticed
He'll be missed. He's not perfect, he's only 21 but he goes into the German squad, even if it is at right back. Hes versatile, he's very composed, he does something none of our other midfielders do, and that's carry the ball forward. His passing consistency needs to improve, and can work on defending a bit but he's certainly got the look of a player. Maybe looked better in a bad year with poor performances either side of him but certainly potential to be a very good player. Just at look at the first goal v Dorrmund, gets the ball in middle, 2 1-2's with bit of movement and then a lovely one touch pass into Origi. Shows he has quality. Glad Allen will be given a chance, should have been given more but I'd rather have csn available than not, especially with Hendo out.
Klopp says we need to just get on with it. Btwe.. Herrera.. most over rated player ever. True symptom of how bad Utd are if the hopes are pinning on him and he's seen as the if only van Gaal would play him player. Utd have not had a decent cm since keane and scholes and that includes Carrick.
Today we started with....... A right winger at right back A midfielder at centre half A centre half at left back A microphone in midfield A 10 at right wing A centre forward at 10 A right winger at centre forward I think we did enough to get the points
Totally different types of players mate, it's no coincidence that we won the league in 5 out of Carrick's first 7 seasons with us.
Tbf that is the kind of football I like to see, balls out go for it football. I really enjoyed that game
Cans done ok this season, nothing more. You can see big potential in what he does, but he is learning his trade rather than being the finished article. I do think he has improved as the season has gone on and we have to remember he is still a young player. We will miss him because 1) he is our best physical presence in midfield and has a good engine and 2) its not an area we are particularly strong in so it is one less option in that regard. Allen, Lucas, Milner and Stewart all have their own attributes, but their all relatively small. We can't afford to lose anymore midfielders with Hendo gone aswell, and I make it a possible 10 more games this season. Its a worry
Small as in stature or attributes? I think Milner is vastly under rated by most of your supporters who seem to miss most of his actual contribution to the team.
In stature...........with Can gone and Hendo too (Hendo is quite a big physical unit aswell) Agree on Milner, not a flashy player but what he does is under-rated and under-appreciated
