I honestly cannot remember anyone's names - I remember the head teacher being furious that I'd scribbled on my exercise books! I think I just remember counting down the days to the end of term. It's a small world isn't it!
I guess about 35 years ago when I started with my grandfather who was a real real fan remembering the club through all its phases. For the record on this one I agree with you Elixir the original post is naive in the extreme and I possibly would have used sarcasm but chose to ignore. I still feel positive, do you remember the last couple of seasons where we've slid right through the transfer windows making no progress with everything happening in a last minute panic? By its very nature and the changes in regulations regarding squads and home grown players etc. I expect to see a real flurry of activity in the last week of the window which is into the season as agents realise they have books of unsigned playes and no commissions!! This is a game being played out by the clubs and I'm sure I've seen a comment from Dyche about not throwing money away and having to wait which is consistent with the scenario of unbudging bids being on the table away from agents expectation with a take it or leave it its our final bid. We don't know how many of these there are out there but if we're still looking for 2 permanents its probably around the 6 to 10 mark, ranked using the this is only on the table until we have one of x,y,or z signed do you want to be the one in, all part of the negotiation process and I wouldn't see it as positive if we were paying asking prices just to close deals to keep the fans happy re. signings at this point. Patience......
lol i know..but i've made up for it since . Oh yes, football, right! lol. His first was Chelsea at home, 1-0, yay. He never looked back after that. He had to get out of his Chelsea/Arse/Man U phase first! lol...
Well said Aberdeen as some clubs start their preparations for the new regulations ,and as clubs start slashing budgets there will be a big surplus of players with no contracts! driving prices and wages down to more sensible levels! We have done some business earlier for the right players! The downside of this is as a selling club the money we make on sales will become lower! The upside is this will be offset by reducing wage bills and transfer fees in! We are still going the right way towards self sustainability!
Went to my first game in 1977, I think, didn't go to St Peters though, Laurence Haines on Vicarage Road, could walk to school and the Vic, living in Kelmscott Crescent!
You're welcome - stay with us - we're a cranky old lot - (especially Elixir but don't tell him I said that )
