This is a banana skin waiting to happen. They won`t be a pushover, so don`t get too excited by us smashing them. So long as we don`t lose I`ll be content, a win would be the icing on the cake. I hope that we can go at them and not give them any breathing space. If we do that then perhaps we will score three goals for the first time this season, in the league. Howay the lads.
I agree with that swanee. I think our lot are a little over-confident and the Toon fans are the reverse. I rate Rafa highly and this game could be a turning point for them. It will have to be if they have any chance of getting out of the mess they're in. I'm having trouble calling this one to be honest. You know what they say about teams fighting for survival and we always seem to play much better against rivals higher up the table. I was caught up in the Guidolin fairy dust that everyone was spreading around last week and predicted a win at SJP but now I'm not so certain. A draw is the best bet I think but who knows?
On 2nd thought . "....."............................................................Fab ..........................................Fernandez .............................Williams ..........Naughton ..................................................................................................Kingsley .................................................................Cork ( or Britton ) Routledge .........................................................................................................................Montero .........................................Ayew .................................................Fer ( or Siggy ) ......................................................................Paloschi
As long as the performance is good I dont mind too much about the result. Newcastle are certainly no pushovers at SJP. In their last 5 home games they have only lost once to Bournemouth. That said since their last win they have played 7 games losing 6 and drawing once. For a team fighting for survival they are not doing well. I cant see anything other than a win or draw for us. In their last 10 games they have scored at least 1 goal on 7 occasions. As we are not exactly banging the goals in ourselves a 1-1 draw looks the most likely outcome. Although we are not mathematically safe I am sure our players will play with a bit more freedom and more relaxed than the previous few games and I hope this translates to a good performance.
"Swansea have confidence. They are organised. They aren't at risk of relegation so they will play football," said Benitez.
I just worry about us sometimes about our attitude when we get a few results, we have seen it only to often with the swans. We always get up for the big clubs and always put in a good show and give them a game, but when it comes to playing poorer sides we tend to struggle and I don't know whether it is a motivation thing or a bit of complacency. If we play to our ability we can win this game, we take it lightly and we will be lucky to get a point. So I am right on the fence here 2 - 2
Yep that's true, although I think some players will have personal goals such as; Fer, wanting a permanent transfer here Siggy, goal scoring record & Shelvey Montero, proving he's got what it takes for the managers future plans Ash, always 100%
One thing is for sure the toon needs the win more than we do so this game will be one of Rafa's targets. Im not that concerned as the season is over as far as im concerned as we play the season out....If we pick up points then good but if we don't i cant see us being caught now....We should use the remainder of the season in experimental mode and see what happens,
I would like us to finish the season on a high, and look forward to seeing what we can do with less pressure and what Guidolin will do. Lawro predicts a loss so that is in our favour, however, JJS has been goaded so expect him to score or have his best game for them.
SAM's verdict Most probable score: 1-1 Probability of draw: 29% Probability of home win: 32% Probability of away win: 39% SAM (Sports Analytics Machine) is a super-computer created by Professor Ian McHale at the University of Salford that is used to predict the outcome of football matches. A super-computer must be right. 1-1 it is.
yes, but if we win this then your 43 points has gone or are we getting no more till then end of the season.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves though win tomorrow and pick up a few more draws will see us on 45 or even 48 with another win, though if we continue this form I see us in the top half of the table.......
Rafa warns Shelvey " Not to get carried away against Swansea " and " to keep his cool " . Hope we have a great game all round , got no probs with us winning and Shelvey playing well ....and everyone having a clean game .
Francesco Guidolin is ready to unleash the real Swansea City and compound Newcastle’s relegation worries at St James’ Park on Saturday...............
not sure thinking a draw here, would love to see kenji gorre given half hour, I think with our past record on ex players scoring against us it would be worth wagering a couple of quid on shelvey popping one in the top corner.
