Anyone seen or heard about this? Mate showed me a text tonight. Very sad. Loads of names of the sadly departed Hull city fans. Going to be on show at Bolton on a big banner. Taffy, Nicky B, Lumby, Rooney, Gav H. Loads more Very sad.
I posted a photo of it on here several weeks back, though I can't remember which thread and I can't find a copy of it now.
Excuse my ignorance, what's it to do with? Is it simply well known City fans who are no longer with us?
It was sorted out by an older Boothferry estate lad....he i presume got the idea from Millwall who have a similar flag and once a season have a Flag day when all the old boys turn up for a particular away game...this year Millwalls flag day will be at Coventry. I believe there'll be similar type old school turn out for us at Bolton as a mark of respect.
A few I knew on there! The best one was the Jamie Hughes RIP flag at the Ryder cup on the first tee! Quality!
Yep thats it. Made me a bit emotional in the pub last night. I didnt know Nicky had died. Last saw him about ten years ago and he didnt look good then. Walking with a stick. Still think about a lot of them especially Lumby and Gav H. What a bloody waste of life.
Is that thee sinbad? Weres wolfie? To many to mention i suppose but its a good tribute to many. For us still alive it shows every day is a good one even if we get beat... At least we are still here to watch city.
Spot on Filey. I cant be doing with moaners. Just enjoy. Some of them lads didnt get past their 20's, never had kids. Never lived a life. Its later than you think.
Not decrying the idea at all but it must be said that the original Sinbad was never a City fan. Also if all the lads who died young and followed City from the late 60's were included the flag would have to be as big as City Hall. Just to mention a few in despatches from the Albermarle/Monte Carlo days who are no longer with us. Tarzan, Peo, Dobo, Garry Harrington, Billy Smith, 'Hitler', Phil Hudd, Wolfgang, Paul Lucas,............ Just to repeat and earlier post, on the East Stand concourse between E7 and E6 is a wall plaque paid for by Dave Robinson that reads 'In memory of all the Monte Carlo and Silver Cod lads who never lived to see it...RIP' which I think is a nice touch. Good luck with the flag.
Most of em are late 70s/early 80s vintage ....when following City was not hip in this rugby hotbed. Fair to say many of em lived life to the full.
Maybe do another flag? Dutch has access to the means to do it. Start a thread on it and ask for donations. I think its a great idea and would have contributed to the one on this thread if the guy who did it had asked.
Some blasts from the past there, mate. Fair to say they wouldn't have enjoyed today's "match day experience". Almost certain to say most of them wouldn't have been going, not all through choice. Can think of some others, one in particular who you met from round my way, that should be on any banner mentioning proper, die hard City fans.
I think the lad who paid for the plaque on the East Stand concourse was his way of showing a memorial flag. I offered to go halves and he wouldn't have any of it. And the nice thing is the lad wasn't even around when the Monte Carlo lads where. That's respect.
Im sure i saw monte at a game a couple of year ago still wearing a crombie the fat git What happened to the oiginal Fez ?
