IIRC we hadn't signed Virgil for the home game... Better make sure Virgil has a baggy pair of shorts on because Lukaku is going to be in his pocket!!
FFS you lot are giving him a harder time than you usually give me. You really must disapprove of his behaviour. Perhaps I need to up my annoyance level a bit as I don't want to end up playing second fiddle to anyone.
Yes good point FLT. VVD has had such a brilliant season and such an important and established member of the team I forgot he has not even been with us a whole season yet. Hope he is happy here and he is with us for the foreseeable future. See him as a future captain.
I'm beginning to worry that Austin suffers from that rare medical condition known as "Pahars Syndrome".
That's it Archers, you mentioned Pahars, have my own personal rule that I have to post this when he's mentioned
As for tomorrow, for once everything feels like it should point to a Saints win. Everton really struggling at the moment, played in midweek, got a cup Semi to worry about, us in a little bit of form ourselves. Yet despite all that there's something in the back of my head reminding me that we have an awful record up there! If VVD keeps Lukaku quiet then we have a chance. Going for a score draw.
Totally agree with all that, it never feels like a game we can win. However, why not this time? We're playing OK, they aren't. I know Ronald was suggesting that 4 points from the next two away games would be good but I hope that he's saying that publicly to keep the pressure off. Really, we need to be looking at 6 points. My personal target this season, as always, was to do better than the last. We need 11 points from the remaining 5 games. Its just about achievable but a win at Everton would really set it up.
John Bailey wasn't playing in that game, he didn't join Everton until the following season - 79/80. His first game against Saints at Goodison Park was in April 1980, Everton won 2-0.
no,no,no...when Pahars is mentioned in a sentence around an Everton game, this is what we need to see (there have been some good efforts at Match Threads, but it does feel like standards have slipped a little ) For the doom mongers and whingers out there, please do listen to the very first line of commentary... this is what life was like every May for Saints fans.
My favourite ever ending to a season. Bought my mate's season ticket off him for the last two home games as he was away on holiday and couldn't use it and also had a ticket for the 'Delhurst Park' Wimbledon away game sandwiched in between. Good times
As reluctant as I am to stick my head above the parapet again, I was told that Austin is unlikely (*possibly, maybe, or even supposedly* there we go HR) to play much of a role in our run in due to his injury problems being more severe than the club has let on. Disclaimer* I was told this by someone whom I know to be in daily contact with 1st team members & whom I believe to be telling the truth as they understand it. Please feel free to doubt or ignore this, but don't get your knickers in a twist about it. It is really not worth it.
