We are all aware of the silly money on for Premier League teams and with the strong possibility of relegation we find ourselves set to be missing out on it although the club will of course be receiving a 'parachute payment'.

However we do find ourselves in a unique situation with relegated teams in that by selling big name under-performer's alongside allowing certain contracts to expire we can more than cushion the financial blow which comes with relegation.

We could recover a King's ransom by selling:

    Pappis Cisse
    Manu Rivierre
    Siem De Jong
    Yoan Gouffran
    Florian Thauvin
    Remy Cabella
    Gini Wijnaldum
    Moussa Sissoko
    Henry Saivet
    Cheik Tiote
    Vurnon Anita
    Massaido Haidara
    Daryl Janmaat
    Fabricio Coloccini
    Chancel Mbemba
    Tim Krul

On top of allowing some undeserved contracts to expire such as:

    Gabriel Obertan
    Steven Taylor
    Sylvain Marveaux

This would leave us with a strong crux of player's to build an effective championship team around provided we can keep Andros and Jonjo onboard, leaving us with the likes of:

    Rob Elliot
    Karl Carlow
    Freddie Woodman

    Kevin Mbabu
    Jamie Sterry
    Paul Dummett
    Liam Gibson
    Jamaal Lascelles
    Curtis Good
    Lubomir Satka

    Andros Townsend
    Dan Barlaser
    Rolando Aarons
    Sammy Ameobi
    Callum Roberts
    Jonjo Shelvey
    Jack Colback
    Gael Bigirimana

    Aleksander Mitrovic
    Ayoze Perez
    Adam Armstrong
    Ivan Toney

Barring the inexperience amongst the group that's a fantastic group of player's to build around. So we can compensate for losing the TV money and take advantage of an opportunity to rebuild ground up and launch an attempt to top the points tally achieved last time round.

So instead of merely clutching at straws with the will we/will we not stay up we can focus on the future without sweating on it.

Ashely is already negotiating a deal where Sports Direct will pay Newcastle for Advertisement, not sure whether this is a good thing. I can see positives and negatives to each side

Positives - Ashely is finally paying for the advertisement his had for free for many years
    - FFP will be alot more stringent in the lower leagues and this will help prevent us from publishing a finanical loss and potentially being docked points

Negatives - The terms of the agreement, its never straight forward is it!
    - Will this deal affect the potential viability of a new owner coming in?
    - Indicates Ashely isnt willing to sell the club at this time

Ashley can't sell now unless he takes a very big loss and he won't allow that. With Rafa looking to extend his staff (ie) bringing in Owen Brown to assist in recruitment it does look like we do have some sort of chance under that tool's ownership. If Rafa can oversee the recruitment free of Graham Carr especially with assistance of somebody he has faith in then I can see us assembling a formidable team both for the Championship and for coming back to the premier league.

Wonder if this means he is planning on staying next season regardless of being relegated?

I believe so. Rafa has nothing to prove so I imagine he sees Newcastle as an exciting project. Having found it on it's hands and knees and possibly leaves it in far better shape. He has nothing to lose here.

Hmmm. I'm pretty sure he'll be off if we are relegated personally. Even more likely is that the club will not pay £4m per year for a manager in the Championship.

You touched up on something there, if a disappointing decision is made at the result of relegation then you can bet the house that it'd be made by the Newcastle lowerachy.

That depends on the boardroom members and management.

That's right, go ahead and spoil it. Just when I was wanting Rafa to stay. If he does I now have to walk "gingerly" and with "great trepidation" whenever I walk down Northumberland Street.

Perhaps this is the groundwork for a sale of the club. Obviously not next season, but if we do bounce straight back up. I suspect that the advertising deal will be heavily weighted in SD's favour and probably tied in for a good few years. I actually never quite understood why he didn't make SD shirt sponsor. The Wonga deal is up soon so that could be next.

    Indeed.

Charnley will activate NUFC's side of the contract clause and bullet Rafa and then hunt for another 100k a year muppet. Neil Warnock has turned Rotherham into the Barcelona of South Yorkshire hasn't he??

Sad times though, when we would even consider Warnock as an option. I wonder how just much further we can actually fall under Ashleys ownership.
