You must be Mr Perfect. It's a forum. People get things wrong... Except you maybe.

Jeez mate. Does it really matter? The bloke tried to help us out with some news. I don't get why you are battering him.

Also, Steven Davis may not be the most high profile player in the World, but it would have shown up on Football media news outlets, such as SKY or BBC if there was anything wrong other than a knock, such is his importance to NI in the Euros. I'm sure he's fine and it always was no more than a training knock.

Hey, I hear Charlie Austin's injured again. He won't be going to the Euros. You heard it here first.

Well it matters to a certain extent because we don't want the forum to descend into an irresponsible rumour shop, except for one thread [coming shortly - end of month]. It was rather a big thing to say too.

You're getting on my nips a bit now. No problem with people getting things wrong, no problems with rumors, gossip, even making **** up. It was delivered in a matter of fact statement way that had people posting their ****ing sympathies! Got it now. Good. Last post on it, good night.

The chap has explained why he said it and is still getting hammered. Personally I think we should encourage people with contacts to share news they hear, even if they can't name sources or give links. Feels a bit like some people are a little jealous of those with contacts.

    Don't get the fuss really.

Yeah, I accept that a hammering is happening. Just shows the extent of the annoyance, I suppose. So...

if everyone can give the member a break now, that would be appreciated. And those who announce rumours as fact, like the subject in question, might think twice before posting. OK?

This reminded me of the only time I went to Goodison. In 1978 I took my heavily pregnant wife to the match. After explaining that we would be sitting in the 'stands', we ended up in the Everton section. I had a lively discussion with surrounding supporters on the merits of John Bailey as footballer. It got quite heated when he managed to get a repeatedly fouled player sent off for retaliation. Can't remember who. He has remained a classic example of football from the dark ages.

If I had started the thread like that, it would have been "I have been told by someone very reliable, who I know for a fact is very close to the player".
I genuinely don't know how I could have worded it differently based on the info I had.
As for being upset if SD missed the Euros, I can assure you there is no bigger supporter of him as a player than me.

Was going to provide you with the answer, armed with my copy of In That Number, but it didn't say. What I can tell you is that the result was 0-0 and Saints keeper Terry Gennoe saved a penalty. No less than Bill Shankly was reported to have said, it was the best goalkeeping performance he'd seen of the season so far. I'm sure he enjoyed the fact that high profile Everton could only draw with a promoted club.

I think my irrational dislike of a player might cloud my judgement and memory, so I tried to find out who but couldn't find out. Maybe it didn't really happen, but in my memory it did. Did find out that JB is allegedly a wino on Scotland Road, with regulation can and dog.

I hope your source doesn't work for the medical department. We'll hear about him in the news defibrillating someone with heart burn next.

That must have been Terry Gennoe's one good game for Saints? If I remember correctly him and Peter Wells were jockeying for position in the early 80's?

Merson has gone for a 2-2 draw. Quote: 'If he has the courage to rest all the players he needs for next week, then they lose this game 3-1, but if he plays a full-strength side then I see a 2-1 home win.' Why has he then gone for a draw? o_O Amazingly he got last weeks prediction spot on.

A lot could depend on how lukaku performs. On his day he is a match winner as we have found out. Let's hope we can keep him quiet
