Here you are; https://www.whoscored.com/Players/4145 - Huth https://www.whoscored.com/Players/69933/ - Alderweireld https://www.whoscored.com/Players/8157/ - Morgan
So Toby has to make less blocks/interceptions per game, causes more offsides, and commits far fewer fouls. But he needs to improve being dribbled past by the opposition. Toby FTW.
Doesn't that put Alderweireld ahead of both Huth and Morgan? It also gives Vertonghen a higher rating than either of them. Are you just saying that they do more defending and therefore have higher numbers in some areas? That's because you're a counter-attacking side who don't close down crosses, depending on your centre-halves to deal with them. Your whole team is compact and hard to break down, which results in these sort of stats. Alderweireld's the only ever-present in the best defence in the country, so far. That's despite playing in a system that involves playing high up the pitch, leaving loads of space in behind. He's been outstanding. http://www.football365.com/news/toby-alderweireld-the-other-player-of-the-year
So Toby has been the best defender in the team with the best defensive stats yet he's not been the best defender in the league this season? Please explain as I'm genuinely puzzled.
Toby has 5 goals and assists. Kante has 4. Alderweiereld is a box-to-box centreback If Alderweireld isn't the best CB in the league then you've been watching the wrong sport.
His ability to actually play football is a negative, apparently. You're supposed to just boot it aimlessly and let some quick blokes peg after it.
1. CBs are a pair. So Spurs excellent defence could be more to do with the other of the pair than Toby. NOTE : Toby has been the constant across the two PL CB pairings this summer. 2. Toby and the other CBs may look good because of the defensive cover in front of them. Fair comment. Anyway, whichever of the above you wish to cling to : - Spurs have the best defence in the PL - Toby is a core part of the machine, and has to do less work on that front than his Leicester counterparts.
Oh dear, rattled a few cages on here it seems. It's my opinion that Huth has been the best centre half in the league this season and i've produced facts to back that claim. Throw your toys out of the pram all you like, all I see is that Alderweireld can dribble and pass it better.
You haven't, though. You've produced stats that back up what I've been saying about the way that you play for ages. You're the one saying that anybody that disagrees with you isn't in their right mind. That's throwing toys, I'm afraid.
Here's another one... Since we stopped playing a winger and a player that can't get into a Championship side in our defence we've conceded 17 goals in 26 games. I'm not getting frustrated about it, merely presenting facts that back up the argument that Huth is the superior defender.
Oh dear, it seems like AKCJ produced stats that showed that Huth in fact has to do a lot more work than Toby, and still concedes more goals in spite of it. Never mind, still 5 games to go. Perhaps Toby and the Spurs defence will conspire to produce results by the end that give you the stats you desire rather than the ones you have.
Here's another one... Since playing Toby as CB in the PL, Spurs have gone from conceding 47 goals in 33 games of a PL season to just 25.
Have you ever considered a career as one of these: please log in to view this image I even picked a Leicester-looking one for you. Nice attempt to airbrush out games against 3 of the top 6, though.
