Nah Sonko was the worst though thanks or no thanks for reminding me about Gardner, another one of these ex-Spurs players that seem to blow hot and cold for us, Dawson apart
I always thought he fancied a coaching job, but then again don't most players when they are reaching the end of their careers ? Rosie was a decent enough player and he was good with the press/fans ie; good speaker etc but he was nothing special IMO. I liked McShane's work ethic and the way you knew he would put a foot in when needed. But he was always one pass away from a disaster. If we were fighting relegation eleven Paul McShane's would have more chance of avoiding it then eleven Elmohamedy's.
Deep, personal stuff there, Obi. Rosie was less oblique about what his preference was and really quite plain in his open letter, although he did criticise by omission. No doubt you'll now start another daft assumption conversation ...
Precisely,. Mcshane really is the evidence that when most City fans say "all i ask is they try their hardest" they're talking absolute bollocks. That's not his fault. I have never ever understood why fans boo players or give them stick for playing badly. That's the manager's fault for thinking theyre good enough. I have only ever booed one individual City player and that was Matt Wicks. Those that saw him play will know why.
No, daft assumptions. Personally I think he learnt all he could from Steve Bruce and will learn a lot more from Chris Hughton. Hopefully that will turn him into a very successful manager. Maybe even for us. No deep personal stuff. I'm retiring at the end of April. Not in the circumstances I would have chosen, but in circumstances I can live with. Next Thursday I say goodbye to a lot of people I've worked with over the years. There is genuine regret mixed with the happy realisation that we can now do what we want with our time as long as we stay within our income. One door shuts, another opens.
Who is he ? Can't have played many games for us ? If he did he didn't make an impression on me, I don't remember him at all.
Just had a look and according to Wiki it was 14 appearances, that's a reasonable chunk. I seem to recall it being under Little and then Molby. He was the one who rang in to RH as the story of Jan's sacking broke and announced he'd lost the dressing room and they basically tried to get him sacked. He himself also disappeared soon after. Talented player, but worst attitude I have ever seen on the pitch and almost certainly pissed-up while playing one game.
Son of Steve Wicks right? We had some proper toerags 99-2002 who wanted a lower league payday and no more. Ryan Williams, Matt Wicks, Hopalong Appleby, David Lee.... List was endless...
The very same. Hmm, might be harsh on Williams and Lee there. I dont think they took us for a ride, they were just **** players. I remember Chesterfield fans couldnt believe when we shelled out a big wedge on Jimmy Krankie, they said his only good game ever was against us and we seemingly bought him on the back of that. Appleby and Wicks were definite twats only after a big pay day, you can probably add Shaun Smith to that too.
Little prick played out of his skin for Bristol Rovers against us too. I vaguely remember Shaun Smith scoring a free kick against Cambridge United. Other than that he just fades into obscurity with a dozen other Carl Regan's (shudder)
I think Smith was our highest paid player at the time. That's why he annoyed me, while just plain **** but cheap players like John French, Tony Brien and David Jones are more a comedic memory.
Read things the way you want to, Obi. Not disagreed with you on Chris Hughton, as I have openly admired his abilities on here and still do; he would be another I would have here but he would not come. It's regrettable that you are not finishing your working life as you would have preferred. You could try writing the communication releases for the club, by the time anyone fathoms them they will have gotten away with murder. there's aways an opportunity, they say.
As long as we stay in the play-off zone the next 6 results don't matter. We aren't going up automatically so now is the time to get all the experimenting out of the way so we are in the best shape for those crucial games.
