After failing to score in our last 2 games, who will Sam play Saturday and what formation will he adopt, bearing in mind we must try for the win.
think he will try Tov in the center and Seb in midfield with Lens ADDED TO THE LIST THAT STARTED LAST WEEK ...
He'll play the same team and formation injuries permitting I think. I honestly think he'll think all is well we just need to convert our chances. I think we should be creating more. Sam is basically asking us to be as clinical as we were before where we were creating nowt but Defoe was banging in any chances he was offered. Defoe has kept us in with a chance but to rely on one man for a whole season is demented. He needs to change things but I don't think he will.
Can't see him putting the young lad in for this must win game even though I think he's quite capable, same side as Sunday as I agree with Bri, Sam will rely on our front players scoring the goals in what is now our last chance saloon, even though we've started firing blanks at the worst possible time.
I think the only change we'll see is Lens for Cattermole. Cattermole is too defensive and we need to e getting the all forward quicker and more accurately, Catts can't do that..
I'd go Pickford Yedlin kone kaboul pva Seb Kirchhoff Mvila Borini Defoe Kazhri Don't think Sam likes Seb or would risk Pickford so can see those being replaced with rodwell and mannone....
I would like to see the following team and formations: Pickford Yedlin. Kone Kaboul PVA M'Villa Kirchoff Borini Seb Khaziri Defoe A 4-2-3-1 formation and Rodwell nowhere near the field.
Just a few games left. What's he got to lose in trying out Seb, unless there's a fitness issue, which I doubt, as he was on the bench last week?
He will pick the same team, but I would think about starting N'Doye and then introducing Defoe alongside him for the second half. Lens has not been handled properly and his display against Lester was not his best, which is what we really could do with. I would like to be proved wrong but I think Lens has blown it, and his goal against West Ham may well be his last in a Sunderland shirt.
Exactly the same team will not beat Norwich, so PVA in midfield O Shea replacing him in defence, and Hordenmackem just abut the team you picked but PVA instead of Lens, and Rodwell sitting at home watching the match on the telly.
He's got nothing at all to lose by bringing Seb in. He's got nothing to lose by bringing Lens or Toivonen in. But he won't do any of those things. We can all see that we need more attacking verve in the side but Allardyce is ultra conservative. I hope I'm proved wrong but I'm convinced that his approach will be to cross his fingers and hope that the side that's failed to win in the last few games will get something out of this must win game.
Duncan Watmore could make his return from injury in Saturday’s crunch clash at Norwich City after returning to full training this week. Watmore has been sidelined since February after damaging ankle ligaments during Sunderland’s 2-2 draw at Liverpool. The 22-year-old was originally expected to be out for around three months; leaving him facing an uphill battle to feature again this season. But Watmore has been ahead of schedule throughout his recovery from injury and has now started joining in training with the rest of his Sunderland team-mates three weeks sooner than expected. Watmore could be in contention for a place in the squad for this weekend’s pivotal encounter against fellow relegation rivals Norwich City, although the visit of Arsenal eight days later is a more likely date for his comeback.
