    Agreed it sounds dodgy, but in the overall scheme of things in football financing these days it does not seem excessively corrupt! If FFP was really wanted by the powers that be there are far more serious 'casual overspends' and illicit finance amongst the really big clubs. I wonder how the move to a stadium built by government money would affect FFP - oh, not at all of course - after all there is plenty of precedent of such financing in some major European cities!

    I would be unhappy if I was a championship team affected, but do not begrudge them their good fortune one iota!

    OK, it's a bit dodgy. But hey, UEFA relaxed the FFP rules for Man City at some point, which I still don't get. Now that seems dodgy. And tbh, the whole FFP thing seems to be dodgy in any case. It started out as a playing field leveller and turned out to be a status quo maintainer. Cortese spotted that from the start and I thought he was off his rocker. But he was right.

    Dodgy seems to be the name of the game in dealing with the Football League's version of FFP. Worth noting as well that all they saved in so doing was a bit of money...they would not have lost points, or been denied promotion. Consequently, there is plenty of incentive to get creative if one has the resources; having to spend money as punishment for having spent too much money isn't necessarily the greatest barrier when one's owner is a billionaire.

    English football has arguably too many games, but Scottish football has to do this to bring a bit of excitement to the back end of the season. Instead of playing the same teams four times.

    I think it's a decent idea, but only for a 10/12 team league set-up

    The ones losing their jobs are the group of people who carry no blame for results on the pitch....shame the players can't give up a week's wage each to provide the annual salary of many of the little guys.
