Rovers have issued a reminder to supporters that smoke bombs are banned from the terraces after confirming that the Football Association have been notified about some incidents that occurred at Northampton on Saturday.

A blue smoke bomb was let off during the 2-2 drew at Sixfields and Dave Harper, the club's safety officer has issued the following statement: "There appears to be an increasing problem with smoke bombs being released on the terraces at home and away fixtures and the club has again been reported to the Football Association (FA) following incidents at Northampton. Supporters are reminded that these devices are not allowed inside the stadium under any circumstances and, apart from the danger posed to persons nearby, they are also a hazard to anyone who suffers with breathing difficulties. It is a stupid and dangerous practice to use these devices and you can rest assured that anyone found attempting to bring them into the ground, or caught on CCTV using them, will be subject to a long ban from the Memorial Stadium."

Harper has asked supporters to report instances of any smoke bombs being released on a matchday to the nearest steward or to contact him at the stadium on 0117 952 4046.

Im sure we will get a fine only but one day the FA will make an example out of someone and deduct points or worse! Why take the risk?

Exeter's game was delayed for an hour or so a few weeks ago after a similar incident. They had to evacuate the fans onto the pitch and someone was arrested for that one.

For once I agree with you CJS. When these sorts of incidents occurs, doesn't matter if its your lot or ours or another team you get people defending it by saying it was only a bit of fun, there is no harm in it, The FA haven't done anything in the past so they wont do anything now. Like you I feel that one day the FA will clobber someone with a points deduction and I bet when they do it wont be one of the big clubs.................................... so we're safe :emoticon-0105-wink:, sorry couldn't resist <ok>

I like how Rovers are requesting that we report to the nearest steward when a smoke bomb has been released. Surely there is no need to do that because the nearest steward will be able to see the smoke anyway!!! <doh>

I find it funny that people think "it adds to the atmosphere", I use to suffer from asthma when I was little, someone sent one off away at West Brom and I never realized how hard it was to breathe being next to one, one dickhead away at Charlton threw one away at the front of the stand and hit a girl and cut her head open.

Tell a steward LOL if the useless feckers checked them before they went into the ground then the problem would be solved

Thats why girls shouldnt be involved with football ;) Only joking. That is bad. If I was the dad, i'll be going mental. I dont know how some say its even fun! It stinks. Thankfully it doesnt effect my breathing but effects my view as when it goes off all I can see is smoke!

" Sorry sir, bottles of water are not allowed; please remove the top and drink it
or pour it away. Why? Well you might throw the bottle onto the pitch.

Ok sir, through you go...... hang on......there's some water left."
