I'm not saying you need to reply straight away. By all means, reply in your own time. But I meant at the time you were online and were still posting on this thread, you did not attempt to counter my arguments. So when you are free, you are more than welcome to do so.
Watching City vs PSG.....very happy we did NOT sign Aurier! (we were linked with him for a long time)
I'm not saying there were calls for an open top bus parade. But I think this was yet another layer which covered our eyes from the stasis this club has suffered from the last 5 years. An emotional hedge against yet another indifferent season.
And Mancity off to the semi finals of Europe, good for them. Us on the other hand, languish in our stagnant state with our annual last 16 knock outs, 6 years running now. lol, the state of this club is miserable right now. I said it a few months ago too, as long as Wenger is here, it's going to get miserable, and that's exactly what's happening. And we still have to put up with another year from him...... The Wenger brigade have gone very quiet, even they know their usual bullshit won't fly anymore, oh we got 4th place for the 1 millionth year in the row and Wenger's been managing on a budget less than a Soho Crack Whore.
What world class players has he bought? Ozil & Cech are I'll give you that, although we were mightily fortunate with the transfer of the latter. Sanchez, for me, is just beneath world-class, but that's a matter of opinion. Aside from that, who else is there? Elneny? Ospina? Chambers? None of these are remotely world-class. Although we may have won a few FA Cups with the signings of Ozil & Sanchez, all that has done is paper over the cracks when it comes to our European and league performances, which matter a hell of a lot more. We still suffer the same problems year in, year out, despite how many changes we make. But even so, Wenger doesn't even necessarily need to buy world-class players, he just needs to buy players that have the attributes to fit in with the way he wants to play & have proved that they are a reliable performer over their career. They don't need to have a big name so long as they can do their jobs well enough and perform with their heads screwed on every game. Something which the current group evidently lack. Your last sentence is a straw man. I have given the manager credit when he's pulled off victories when I've least expected it, but that's when you look at results in isolation. If you take what he's done in the season(s) as a whole, he has continuously shown how little he has done to correct our mistakes from prior seasons gone by. That is a massive flaw he has. And he's had more than enough time to try and sort the issue out, but it seems like he does not know how to. They're not as wealthy as the other established Premier League teams and they were promoted two years ago. If it's unreasonable to be expecting to finish above Leicester (generally speaking of course, not this season), then you must have very low ambitions. Whilst they may have wealthy owners, the outlay for their squad has been very, very small. They do deserve tremendous credit for what will be one of the greatest feats of all time, but it does put into perspective how poor the state of the top 6 clubs are to be finishing so far behind them. The first thing I'd say to this is that this is what makes a world-class player. To perform at a consistently high level over the entire season for numerous years. If they're not doing this, questions have to be asked about their ability, whether it be physical or psychological. But also, this is the effect a different manager can have, too. They can find ways of bringing the best out of these players in a way that their predecessors may not have been able to. This is what distinguishes good managers from great managers. Of course they deserve it. But this really does put an awful lot of shame on the bigger clubs for not replicating Leicester's hunger and passion to win.
I think that more or less sums up what I have been trying to convey, all the money and big grounds/fan base means little if the players don't have the fight.
By the way, I would put Sanchez on the edge of world class when he plays to his capability's, the problem is he only seems to do this for 30-50% of the season. Still, 3 world class players in one team cant be sniffed at
I don't think so at all. It's a lighthearted response to the constant 'we are better than Arsenal' claims we get from Spurs fans, players and even managers year upon year.
Football has changed. Teams cannot afford to carry players who don't want to get involved in They're none of them world class. Real Madrid and Barcelona sign world class players, they don't sell them. Koscielny's good but he's not that good and Cech's always had a mistake in him and isn't as good as De Gea, Hart or Lloris.
Wow - just read the last 2 pages. You guys play some of the best football in the Prem, chill ffs. We are having an amazing season, due to no shortage of ability, energy and determination. Take Kante out (and word is that you are interested in buying him) and we would still be good, but not top of the league. Sometimes, all it takes is one player to make the huge difference. Buy Kante and you will win the league. In 2 years time he will be recognised as the best midfield player in the world. One advantage that we have over you is that we are a small city. The players go out together, go away together. Think it was Mark Albrighton who said that we are a bunch of mates who play footie together. Much more difficult for that to happen in London. Would swap your history for ours any day of the week. Personally, have never liked Arsene Wenger - but that was due to comments he made after a cup tie at Highbury. He aint done bad for you over the years, and like I said - could just take one player. Good luck next season.
They're all world class on their day. But the epitome of a "world class" player is that they have "their day" every weekend. Take N'Golo Kante for example. Every week he's a 8/9/10 out of 10. That's world class for me.
What a load of biased bullshit! Barcelona: Ibrahimovic, Alexis Sanchez, Yaya Toure, Luis Figo, fat Ronaldo.. Real Madrid. Kaka, Higuian, Xavi Alonso, Mesut Ozil, Welsey Sneidjer, Robben, ... in fact Real Madrid have a HISTORY of signing World Class talent and not getting the most out of them only for the players to leave. Cech is a much better keeper than Hart or Lloris.
LOL @ Cech not as good as Hart and Lloris, HAHAHAHAHA man have I heard some bullshit in my time. Cech is on the level of Neur, Buffon, De Gea, so don't get it twisted.
He's better than Hart and, currently, Lloris. But he's nowhere near the likes of Neuer, Buffon and De Gea.
None of those players left those clubs while they were world class and only Higuain, Toure, Ibrahimovic, Robben and Sneidjer improved once they left.
Nowhere near the likes of those 3? Yeah sure sure, he is well on their level, quit talking out of your arse, the guy has proven he is world class. And has helped Chelski win every possible club trophy.
