Some good films on Netflix recently... 21 Grams. Brilliant but very dark film 9.5/10 highly recommended. The Grand Budapest Hotel your missing out if you haven't seen it 8.5/10 Let Me In. Remake of a Scandanavian vampire film the original is better but this is also worth a watch 7/10 Precious. Another dark film but brilliant performances 7.8/10
Not enjoying LOT as much as others nits OK in parts but a bit predictable. They've gone with similar theme of having 1 big storyline the whole show is about, but in each episode made a mini story but don't think it's worked as well as flash and arrow. There is no lead character to centre on, and they're trying to add small bits into each episode to get everyone involved, like the love triangle you mentioned which seems pointless. Where as flash and arrow you have main character then lots of support, this just seems like lots of support characters with no one holding them together.
The lead has to emerge as in fairness they've taken the dregs they set up elsewhere as dregs. Given the Mick and snarc actors are stars from prison break my view is snarc will be the main guy and sara is main girl. The captain... not so much. Right now it reminds me of season 1 ds9 All characters are being developed. Atom, firestorm, hawk girl and Mick are too one dimensional to be much of anything and will settle in to roles The powere of this is go anywhere in time and so they cannot simply keep moving forward in time. They must go back so this presents an interesting dilemma. Vandal didn't know them in 70s so only the xaptain can meet him before this.
Loved the first 2 seasons they were brilliant. After that admit was crap. I saw an advert for it couple weeks ago, can't believe they are still making it. It's big like big brother, no one watches anymore but some lunatic brought it for a new channel and is determined to continue to show it.
This weekend I watched... The Birders Guide to Everything 6.8/10 worth a watch if bored. Kelly and Cal 7/10 enjoyable feel good movie.
Anyone been following that People Versus OJ Simpson thing? Spoiler alert: I've been downloading it and watched the final episode. UNBELIEVABLY - despite enough evidence to have got Kim Jong Un convicted in a North Korean court, he is acquitted. Yeah, I know... only in Hollywood.
Yes please. Supergirl is decent anyway. Started slow but has picked up. please log in to view this image
Anyone seen the GoT trailer ... anybody still care about this show ?? Seems like other shows are now on the scene and they are foolishly relying on themselves being uber-event-tv to stay relevant, of course they have the hardcore Martin fans who'll watch anything they spew out of the pipe. Problem with this show and TWD is how long they are taking to get near to any kind of conclusion and end-game for the narratives, are we all gonna be pensioners and they're still churning out new seasons of these shows ?! It's quite a ridiculous investment to ask from your audience to stick with it for what looks like it could be a decade for both shows
I very much enjoyed seasons 1-4 season 5 was then a massive let down but I'll still be watching the new one and hope it picks up again. TWD just had its best season ever imo so there's life in the show yet but I agree that I want and ending and both of these shows need to work toward that.
I will have a look at the first episode. The best modern shows 'ever' ... Wire, Sopranos, BB, Mad Men all had 5-7 seasons with a nice tight arc, GoT and TWD are both up to 6 and are the stories are barely past half-way done ?! Perhaps a little bit, so imo they need to be wrapping it up soon, but the stories are where they are so it seems like we could be looking at a lot longer, around 10 seasons of each which is crazy. They are way, way overestimating how much investment a non fan boy/girl viewer has in the story. Especially GoT with the year wait in between series, at least TWD is back in autumn. At this point I struggle to get excited about thrones as I know it will be more glacially paced tease-tv, which TWD is as well tbf, constantly dangling things in front of the viewer and never actually getting to them or being pretty well underwhelming when they do after a huge build-up. Thrones mostly stays relevant because of its 'epic scale' which is really an excuse to stretch it out to the nth degree and for feck all to happen
Modern TV has certainly become big business and as it's become more popular we're always on the look out for the next big show, I'm still happy with TWD but less so with GOT and feel that creators need to move on and produce top quality story lines. Better Call Saul is a good example where imo he's producing a better story and has developed his original idea into something that could riveal the big shows like The Wire/Sopranos etc.
Can't tell you how pissed off I am that there are only 2 episodes of BCS left. I watched ep 8 again last night. ****ing colossal
Reached the following bit of BB in my rewatch ... Yeah bitch !! Magnets !! Oh !! So onto S5 now, think it's better watching without the huge breaks between seasons
