Past tense is right, because if you want to judge Islam then you have to judge it when it was established and was the rule and the law What you see today is secular laws and that is what is oppressive. be it saudi arabia or pakistan etc
So are you saying that Islam should only be viewed as it - allegedly - was, according to historians ( for want of a better term) aeons ago? If it was such an outstanding,fair and just belief system what are your opinions on why it seems to have been undermined by secular laws? And.. As a matter of interest, can you point me in the direction of any notable women writers/leaders/figureheads/commentators/spokespersons from this golden age of equality who would share your assertion?

No I am not saying that at all, I am saying stop viewing Islam by the cultural practises of those who dont follow it. People point to saudi, for example, as a bastian of the Islamic world, yet most scholars of any note have declared the rulership of saudi as kufr (non muslim). Its like the example of women priests i gave earlier. Quite simply if christianity doesnt allow it and it has happened then its no longer christian. The secularism discussion is long winded, however in simple terms what you see the ME is puppet regimes and pure oppression of the masses. The recent so called Arab spring in Egypt clearly showed that the populas wanted an Islamic rulership. They democratically elected one ad it was taken out and now you got sisi What do you mean by ''notable''? There are plenty of women who taught great scholars of Islam from the past and currently there are speakers and writers too.

I think you'll find no one agrees with your assertions, or should I say riddles wrapped up in enigmas inside a mystery. You make bold sweeping statements, generalisations for the most part, with nothing to back them up, and counter any opposing view with with more of the same. There is absolutely no detail in anything you say and even if your point is eventually made clear it is never worth the trouble that it took to decipher it.
