I think it would depend on what Ellis gives for spending. If we go down I cannot see him giving Sam a big budget. Alt: is the championship governed by the fair play league or not? We could get some talent in, bomb that league and come up stronger than ever.
Depends on how much he (Defoe) likes it up here, i can see a couple of teams being after him but the million dollar question is would he leave? He isn't going to play for England again, and cant see one of the other teams higher up the league who are in the euro positions wanting him, so he might see his time out here. Watmore is a must for us, and then see what is in the market. Hardest thing if we go down is to get or keep the core of the team that will get us straight back up and then keep us up. I think you said it earlier that we have already got rid of most of our dead wood now, so that's a positive. I'd like to think Sam would do well in the transfer market and hope ES gives him the backing to do so.
If we go down Defoe will go to Bournemouth is my guess. I'd like us to go for a pacey striker, proven to cause absolute havoc in the Championship (similar to Andre Gray at Burnley). I can't see many of our players being that in demand. Defoe, Khazri, M'Vila, Kirchoff, possibly Kone & Borini.
I firmly believe Defoe will leave, I think he's better suited to the PL than the Championship anyhow, he'll have too much time on the ball there and he's more of an instinctive striker. I think he could go to Bournemouth, I also think Leicester would take him as a low-risk, short term option to thicken their squad out for Europe, Swansea, WBA (when Berahino leaves), Everton (if they lose Lukaku) and probably Palace, all teams who could use a striker of his quality, there'd certainly be no shortage of offers.
Championship is governed by the Football League financial fair play rules mate, I doubt you'll have much to worry about with the authorities next season unless your owner decides to do something drastic.
I think he'd choose Bournemouth or Palace if he had the option, being a southern fairy, more to the point he keeps reiterating his desire to play football regularly and not sit on anybody's bench.
Could you imagine if we go down with them up the road, Hull and Boro miss out on promotion. Be some blood and thunder games then. Hate Hull nearly as much as Boro and hate i Boro more than the mags, don't hate the mags as much as Hull though........so who do i hate the most?
He's had two long lay offs in three years and comeback/is coming back well ahead of schedule. Matthews. now there's a player who's always injured.
How can you know he's better when you don't know his name. Have you even seen him play? Similar position to Watmore but completely different types of players. He's also a good year in development behind Watmore(probably more). Leave Rees where he is imo, he's not ready for a senior relegation fight at this level. It would be a desperate move that could wreck a player who's developing well but who hasn't even embarked in any professional senior level yet.
You get more time on the ball in the Premier League than you do in the Championship. I agree he will move to someone like Bournemouth though.
I disagree, not as a poacher type striker that Defoe is, let's not pretend the Championship is of a higher standard by some strange logic mate.
