What do you think of Bobby Madley. I think he's an OK referee, myself.

Wasn't it Pawson who refereed WHU v Arsenal?

Madley is a decent ref. Had a shocker in the first half of Chelsea v Saints but had a good 2nd half. That's always a good sign if you can do that. And yes, Pawson did WHU v Arsenal, pissing off most of East London in the process. :)

It seems that every ref is capable of a bad game these days. Can't remember the last UK ref who didn't invite some sort of major criticism.

Yeah but also not the most difficult game to referee.

I don't know. In the first half Janmaat pulled Tadic back, and then later he handled the ball on the floor when he slipped in the build up to Pelle's goal. In both cases Madley rightly waved play on (ie called the foul), but in neither instance did he go back and book Janmaat.

Janmaat should have been walking off when he did. But not to be subbed.

And for deliberate fouls on Shane.....grabbed at Shane's arm/hand on a couple of occasions and went unpunished.

As commented on by Steve Claridge on R5 Monday Night Club. He said they'll sack a few people who really need a job and save about £20K. All window dressing, in his opinion.

Among the other reasonable opinion makers was Chris Sutton. I'd love to hear them have a proper disagreement. ;)

Now that The Monday Night Club has finished on R5 I've tuned into the beginning, on iPlayer Radio, because I came to it late when it was live, and bless him, Steve Claridge is promoting Saints at every realistic opportunity. I guess being born in Fareham meant that although he got to play for Portsmouth and Bournemouth, on the South Coast, he can't hide his admiration for the one in the middle.

Well done Steve. A true Hampshire and South Coast lad. ;)

Oops, as I type there goes another mention.

Surfing through the BBC gossip column and I read that Shelvey earns more than Neymar!!! The question is would the latter move to the PL simply to earn more money when he is much more likely to win medals by staying at Barcelona. The reality is that this guy earns more through advertising products than he does on the pitch, and with Barcelona he is with the highest profile club in the world bar Real Madrid. The motive would be to test himself in the PL and learn English.

Life style is also important...Barcelona is a lovely city and the weather is nicer even than Southampton :) He can compete against the best in the Champions League, so not everyone wants to come to our wet shores.

Neymar probably gave the tax man figure.....which is slightly incorrect & in reality he's on a lot more than Jonjo.

I would hope so considering the disparity between their respective talents.

The Scottish PL is about to split so top teams play each other and bottom teams play each other. Not saying I am in favour, but it is an interesting idea for the EPL. If all the bottom teams play each other, the worst three would be discovered with no influence from one team having more top teams to play than the other at the death. Similarly, the best should rise to the top in the other half of the table. Would suit us as we are the third best team in 2016 :) What do you think? Is it fair?

Vic wasn't trying hard enough! Did you notice he was the first to ask the Ref if he was ok after he slipped up!
