What are we thinking about the direction then lads? Looks a bit of a lottery to me, nothing even vaguely obvious at first glance
Looks like there aren't really any clues for the direction. The vote is going to be difficult as well as Mafia can pile on someone without us ever knowing. I think we should decide on here who we are going to put up for lynch, the town players at least will have no reason to lie about who they are going to vote for.
hmm pretty hard. There is literally nothing for anyone to go on for why so and so is getting lynched!
good moming town! So here we go again on another big game. this one is going to be interesting as there are hidden votes. It should be fun. I would like to just say 3 things. 1. People need to be active. The mafia will need hiding spots and have the excuse that they can vote in private so why talk? Well, the only thing the town players can do is get on here and post some real stuff not waffle and make it hard for them. 2. There are 20 in town and of that 5 are bad guys (right now) thats 25% of those on the thread are evil. I make it 8 vanillas and 7 town roles v 3 mafia and 2 SK. 3. This brings me to the main topic of conversation; the voting for direction. I want to state one thing so we all get this. Only vanilla get to vote. So 8 votes decide where to go and the mafia will want to get votes on their desired direction. This means if the mafia want to get their choice they have to directly influence people So lets see us make good choices and not simply go with the majority talk. nobody knows which way anyone really votes so this will be interesting. My advice for what it is worth is we list the three options and see if there is a logic to them and pros and cons to each. here is my list: http://www.not606.com/threads/official-dc-mafia-game.326901/#post-9121969 (this link gets back to original post) 1. The bar: "After what we've all gone through, having a drink at the local can't be frowned upon." Logic? Not too sure, the full line says can't be frowned on, is there an implicit message here? What good would going here do the town? Pros: Its a gathering place so might be safety in numbers. cons: its a place where dodgy characters can act (as per most bars) Can thier actions be not noticed? 2. The park "Feel free to go have some fun in the local park and pretend your a child again." Logic: How could this action get us anywhere? Where is the good in this for the town? Pros: It is another out in the open gathering place. cons: Pretend you are a child? does this mean its a waste of time? 3. home "Go home and do what you wish." Logic: split up and don't interact? Pros: Might be allowing for greater freedom of actions for some? cons: As people split up they end up on their own. This would allow people to be killed? Overall I am not seeing a clear favorite but I am leaning towards one of two. I am least enthused by option 3 but not based on current game logic but on past games where such an options only offers danger. My view is everyone needs to think for themselves but know that IBWT has said this does matter so lets try and talk about it and get it right
I mentioned earlier that I'll post my thoughts on the locations a bit later as I wanted guys to think for themselves, however this has been a very quiet start. I am very wary of doing an Astro from the previous game. He got the directions right and was a virtual confirmed townie as a result, but if he got it wrong he probably would have been lynched. I don't want to be in that situation, I genuinely think guys should think for themselves, discuss it and then make up their own mind. Don't be sheep and follow public opinion, and then lynch the guys who had the initial ideas because they got it wrong. We need to discuss these as a group. Location options: 1. The Bar. After what we've all gone through, having a drink at the local can't be frowned upon. 2. The Park. Feel free to go have some fun in the local park and pretend your a child again. 3. Home. Go home and do what you wish. My thoughts: For me it's a case of 2 vs 1. Option 3 (Home) is virtually the opposite to the first two options imo, so for me that makes Home either the best or worst option, it's unlikely to be the neutral one. The two key ideas linking the Bar and Park are mostly (A) strength in numbers, and less so (B) having fun/relaxing. The wording of having fun in the park seems so strange in light of the disaster that just occurred that I can't believe that is the 'good' option. Having a drink in the bar is not specifically stated as being a fun choice but it certainly beats sitting at home alone, so this links the Bar and Park for me (but not as strongly as the strength in numbers aspect). Staying at home is the opposite. You're (A) flying solo so no backup if things go wrong and no one to chat about, and (B) you're not doing anything fun or entertaining. It's hard to know what Biscan is trying to encourage us to do here, it could be one of two things for me but we have no idea which one. On one hand he could punish us for enjoying ourselves so soon after this tragedy, in which case I would guess Home is the 'good' option and the Park is the 'bad' option (mainly due to the wording used in the description). On the other hand he could be encouraging us to stick together and punish us for being alone, in which case Home is the 'bad' option and one of the others is the 'good' option. Again I'd lean towards the Bar as being the best option as I don't like the wording of just having fun in the park, so I would pick Bar as the 'good' option there. So for me there's a clear link between Bar and Park vs Home by itself. But depending on IBWT's interpenetration it could go either way, there could also be other interpretations I haven't thought about, please list any ideas you guys have. I've voted for the Bar in my PM as I feel it is either 'neutral' or 'good' in my two scenarios above. The other two options each could be the bad option in a particular scenario so I don't want to risk it.
I'm gonna vote park I think. it sounds neutral. I actually like DC stuff so this game looks a cracker. Far too early to pick a vote out so I'll keep an eye out.
an interesting way to go about it. There is some logic in staying home is the opposite of the other two. We need to remember that the mafia have this task here to direct us towards one option. they will know more therefore than us as of now but not which is worst for them and best for us. We then needs to see that the mafia can't vote in this but need us to vote for what they want which is not what my original game did but what your game did do. This means the incentive for mafia to stick their neck out will have to be interesting. "As well as voting on who to lynch, each Vanilla Townie will have an extra vote to make. Each day they will get 3 locations to visit, 1 good, 1 bad, and 1 neutral. If the majority of the town manage to get to the good location, they will be rewarded, if the majority go to the bad, they will be punished and if the majority go to the neutral then nothing will happen. Beware, because the Mafia know which is the bad and may be trying to influence the decision. If the majority is tied, it will be a coin toss to decide." one more logic along your lines could be: "can't be frowned upon" "pretend your a child again." "do what you wish" These are the last parts of each clue. what benefit accrues from each? Are these hints from IBWt as to which is best? Then again the destinations right at start: the bar the park home Are we inferring things form the places themselves? should we?
Would go along with your suggestion of looking at wording connected to each place. For me the first would seem to be neutral - can't be frowned upon. The second suggests a childish reaction - not a mature choice and therefore not a good choice. The third suggests selfishness- not good for the group. Which leaves me stuck at the moment.
