It’s Monday morning in Central City and the day after the explosion releasing dark matter across the City. Many of the town’s residents have been wiped out but a small community remain. Rumours are rife that a small number of the remaining town have gained powers, and with power becomes great responsibility. Amongst them, evil lurk who are intent on killing off anyone who doesn’t side with them with the hope of taking over the town for themselves. Harvey Dent, the Town Mayor, decides that democracy is the best way forward and each night the towns people will have a secret ballot on who they think is the shiftiest and will be lynched. As well as voting on who to lynch, each Vanilla Townie will have an extra vote to make. Each day they will get 3 locations to visit, 1 good, 1 bad, and 1 neutral. If the majority of the town manage to get to the good location, they will be rewarded, if the majority go to the bad, they will be punished and if the majority go to the neutral then nothing will happen. Beware, because the Mafia know which is the bad and may be trying to influence the decision. If the majority is tied, it will be a coin toss to decide. Usual win conditions apply. For Town to win, they need to wipe out the Mafia & SK’s. For Mafia to win, they need to wipe out SK’s and outnumber town. For SK’s to win, they need to survive to the last day at which point they’ll go on a suicide mission, kill everyone on the final night and then take their own lives as they have no one else left to kill – weird life of a psychopath eh? Slight change in this game as all voting will be done via PM to me, or via your QT board by 9pm each night. You will also need to PM me your nightly action or your location choice by 9pm. You are free to discuss who you wish to vote for on the main board, however whether you follow through on that is entirely up to you. As per usual, no discussing via PM, no posting snippets of your PM for proof etc. Game will be open so no unknown roles. Rewards/Punishments for the daily challenge will be made known as and when necessary. Roles Mafia – start with 3 members, get 3 kills, 1 recruit and 1 paper hack. Can only perform 1 action each night. Zoom – Can only be killed via lynch. Is the only one that can kill Flash. Night 1 Result: Night falls in Star City and the Mayor logs into the computer to get the name of the unfortunate person who will be hung up. A name is read as the town gather.. Tobes is the name that's called out. The town grab Tobes before he can run, tie the noose round his neck and ask him if he has any last words... "Don't do it, my name is Cisco and I can Vi....." before he can finish, his neck snaps and the town realise they've just lynched a powerful ally. The town not sure what to think have decided to go to the Bar to drown their sorrows and think of the terrible thing they've just done. Everyone has a few drinks and it all seems pretty tame. Nothing much happens in the bar. The town then head on their own separate ways. In the morning, the town gather round Town Hall to see what today has in store for them. They do a quick count and notice someone's missing... "Has anyone seen brb this morning?" A townie shouts from the back... everyone seems unsure what's going on. They spread out in the search for brb before a shriek is heard. Everyone rushes over and see's the dead body of brb. His body seems to have exploded with bits of him all over the place... some kind of plasma energy seems to be nearby. Town unsure who brb really was go through his house and see if they can find any clues... nothing untoward here, it looks like brb was just a regular Vanilla Townie. Town head back to the Hall and see another notice on the door. After the tragic events, the beach has been opened to try and get some normality back into life. Tonight everyone must either head towards 1. The Beach 2. The Beach Hut 3. The Cafe
Day 2: newspaper: CENTRAL CITY NEWS where the news comes first. Edition – 10123940 All the latest news from Iris West Allen A tough-as-nails journalist from Central City News hot in from the Major’s Office: Who voted for who in Lynch Vote. The Major was being relatively quiet and didn’t give much away but our hot reporter was able to find out how the following citizens voted; AFC voted for Tobes Mikey voted for Tobes Astro voted for Tobes Tennis voted for DPP Bod did not vote Well, what do you citizens think that shows? Time to muse and speculate. Tobes was a good guy but did he commit “suicide” by putting his big foot in it or was he killed by those who feared what he could do? An attempt was made to follow one of our respectable citizens last night but he wasn’t where he claimed to be. What does this mean? It means that Iris is watching you and will continue to watch you. Be sure citizens this Reporter is one who won’t rest on previous glories and is keeping her eyes open to keep you GOOD citizens safe. ................................................. Results: It's that time again and the town gather to witness the lynch, hoping they have selected better than last night. The computer spurts out a name... Astro. The town grab him, hang him up and ask if he has any last words... "You're all ****ing idiots, I told you I'm a Vanilla Townie, you should have listened.... Tobes, I'm coming to be in your arms baby ". The Trap door goes and his neck snaps. The town seem confused, surely he wasn't telling the truth was he... they search his house and nothing out of the ordinary here. It appears Astro was a Vanilla Townie! The town unsure what to do with themselves decide to head towards the beach, but each head their own way into their respective beach huts, into solitude for the night. We should all be safe in our own beach hut, one of the townies cries. No bad happens here, a very good decision from the town, with everyone locked up the mayor can work his magic tonight. As the town gather for the next morning, they do a headcount and realise they are missing yet more people! Penfold and Valley seem to be missing, perhaps having a ****fest together over Jonjo Shelvey? They pop round to the houses, Penfolds first... silence at the house. They investigate more, and see Penfold dead on the floor, a heart attack? It looks like someone just grabbed his heart and forced it to stop beating?! They look around the house a bit more and see an old school type writer, photos and news paper clippings. It looks like Penfold was the local Journalist! Distraught they head over to Valley's house... his is easy to spot by the number of guilty looking sheep in the backyard. Again, there in the doorway is the dead body to Valley. What's that sticking out his head? It looks like an arrow! The town investigate further and see nothing out of the ordinary here... Valleyappears to have been a Vanilla Townie! 3 Townies down, the town don't know what to do with themselves and head back to the Town Hall to try work out a plan for today. A notice on the door. "Town, this has bene a terrible night, but we all love sport so I've laid on a tournament. Your options are: 1. An online game of fifa 2. A game of darts 3. A Round of golf
Game thread open. As the town gather round Town Hall they notice a flyer on the front door it reads as follows. Town - Due to the catastrophic events of last night a curfew will be in place tonight. 3 Locations will be allows to be attended though, those locations are as follows. 1. The Bar. After what we've all gone through, having a drink at the local can't be frowned upon. 2. The Park. Feel free to go have some fun in the local park and pretend your a child again. 3. Home. Go home and do what you wish. Vanilla Townies are asked to state where you are attending tonight with your lynch vote which will be put into the secret ballot at 9pm Monday night.
Have a stab at the direction thing. Bar - seems reasonable, crowd, numbers and indoors. Park - outside, dark matter residue, hiding places to be picked off. Home - solitary, no chance to discuss matters, no safety in numbers. Don't know much about Marvel other than seen some of the films but not a geek. Each of the above directions can be countersayed by negatives but just initial thoughts that sprang to mind.
Hang on, so let me get this right...we are voting by PM? So that means, I can say I will lynch Valley but actually lynch Gerrez behind PM That's great Ah but wait.... I see a problem with this rule... Do any of the groups communicate behind PM during game play, if they do it will lead to an unbalance and bias in the voting by not seeing it on the board.
Welcome back guys, I know virtually nothing about DC comics but it seems like common enough roles so I can't see it being too much of a disadvantage, unless the clues link to the comics (but it doesn't seem like it... If it does please can one of the guys in the know explain it to us). Initial thoughts on the game: Lynch votes Going to be very interesting to see how the hidden lynch votes affect the game. There won't be any huge rush of votes late on just before nightfall unless something big occurs then like an investigation reveal or role reveal. Rather reveal investigation results earlier (and don't reveal roles) so that guys have time to change their votes accordingly. I think this massively favours Mafia tbh. They could all jump on one person and get him lynched, the only other players in a team are the 2 masons who can't recruit so you could have a block of 4 mafia (including their recruit) jump on 1 guy and the rest of the players spread out their votes. The only deterrent against this is the Mayor who can see 50% of the votes. Fortunately he can't be recruited but if he is killed we're screwed. The other good game mechanic is that he has a safe way of revealing that info, by passing it to the journo to publish. The way I read it he passes half of HIS info, so essentially 25% of the total votes. It's critical that the mayor survives for the whole game, so don't reveal your role under any conditions. It's also important that the journo survives but I'd say he's secondary to the Mayor as without him he doesn't get access to the 25% lynch votes. Investigations The way I read it these only see actions, so if they investigate a mafia or SK and they don't make a kill etc. they won't show up as a bad guy. I might have it wrong but that's what I would assume. This is different to the standard investigations from most games but it has worked this way before. This can work very well if a key person is investigated, you could end up fingering multiple bad guys in one night. We've seen before that certain players end up getting targeted by multiple teams in one night, in my previous game it was particularly common. You could end up investigating someone who gets recruited and killed for example, potentially revealing two other bad guys (say the mafia recruiter and SK who killed him), it depends on how much info IBWT chooses to reveal. The two investigators need to think carefully who to investigate, I would recommend the usual suspects who get targeted early game. Especially the guys who are being very helpful as they will be targeted to destabilise town. Exploration/Direction options We have a lot of Vanilla Townies so this will be key to get right. We'll probably know tomorrow how IBWT plans to run these and how obvious the bad and good choices are, it's very hard to know with just one day's choices. No idea what the rewards or punishments are so time will tell how critical those are to the game. Either way we need to make sure we pick the right option as often as possible. It's important that town roles help us out by giving their opinions on the options as well, to help pick the right choice. I've got a few ideas about Day 1's choices but will put them in a separate post that's focused on just that info.
So we have 20 players as things stand atm: 15 town (7 roles, 8 VT's) vs 3 mafia vs SK 1 vs SK 2. With so many killing roles though numbers will dwindle quickly!
