Yeah but it doesn't take 45 minutes to earn a beer in Norway, you've just made that up. Norweigan people do come here to buy electronics, they constantly comment on how cheap it is here. The minimum wage in Norway is usually between £12 and £15(around 140kr) an hour (which isn't set by the state) and a beer costs around 56kr depending on where you go, which works out at around half an hours (on average) work for a beer. That's minimum wage jobs, menial work like bar work or supermarket workers. The Krona is worth more because they have a smaller population and a **** tonne of oil, that's why. If I didn't have a settled job here, I'd have moved there long ago. They also get 25 days holiday on top of the 10 or so public holidays, time off with full pay if their child is sick and pretty decent healthcare (not free but very good). Oh, scratch what I said earlier, you do get a state handout but only if you've worked in the last 12 months. You get a handout of 62.4% of your gross annual income. Pretty decent.
You blokes are living in the wrong Country. Less than 10 minutes work here for a 'pint' of (real) beer. The 'Amber Nectar' - looks like beer, tastes like beer and you can get pissed on it; pretty quick if you are drinking the full strength. That crap you call beer in England you need a knife and fork to drink it. Bluck!
Well if we are getting rid of that many players I would think we would have to go young and rebuild. I normally only recommend Americans so I will continue that. Bobby Wood - 23, forward, USMNT, plays for Union Berlin 16 goals in 26 this season Christian Pulisic - 17, midfield, USMNT, plays for Borussia Dortmund, 1 goal in 7 games this season cant really think of anyone else I would want that would come to us
Where are you living Roo? A "schooner" of beer (about 3/4s of a pint) of any half decent craft ale will set you back at least $8, if not $10. Minimum wage is $17.39 (although fair enough, you'd expect about $23 or so in a city). That isn't less than 10 mins for a pint now is it? You are right about the awesome pale ale scene over here, but very unfair to call British beer "crap".
Who the Christ is on minimum wage AND drinks 'craft ale'. I live in 'the sticks' mate, 200 kms east of Melbourne. About $20 an hour is minimum round here but most earn much more. The "Pub Culture" as I knew it in my hay day (I'm 77 now) is dead and buried. Who the hell is going to pay $5 for a Stubby (in the Pub) when you can buy a slab (24 bottles) for $40. One or two with a meal might be OK but it's "Man Caves" where the drinking is done these days. The Returned Servicemens League (RSL) and the Bowling Clubs offer much cheaper beer for members - especially with the Pokies thriving. I drank 12 to 16 pints of Hull Brewery mild in the 60's - it was crap (with a capital C). (But I still drank it). Best beer I ever had in England was up in Sunderland called "Nimmo's" (I believe it was the last of the private breweries) but more often than not it was Vaux's. I am told that my old haunt (Newland, where there was The Piper, Grafton and Lambton Club) is now festooned with Boutique Bars and the residents have practically got one each. Times have changed in Hull "eudaimon" and I don't believe for the better but it's not my world any more it's the young 'uns and that's the way they like it. Have a great night mate.
I liked VB when I was down there, bloody expensive though, still that was Australia in general that I found!
What is worse about having more choice and not having to go home at 10.30 pm or pay to go in a crappy club if you wanted to stay out?
I'm not sure what you mean Castro but the Clubs that I mentioned here in Oz are certainly not crappy. Put on a great meal too. I haven't frequented these 'boutique' bars so cannot comment but from what I've gathered they are for the young 'uns looking for a root.
When on my world travels (years ago) I didn't find (by comparison) that Oz beer was expensive. English beer (if you can call it that) was more expensive but most countries were more expensive than Oz. I didn't mind Budweiser in the USA and thought it good value for money as they were selling it in imperial pints I think. In recent years the cost of living has risen here but is still very comparable to the rest of the world.
That ****ing infuriates me does that. As someone who is childless, when people ring in sick cos their child is sick - wtf is that all about? I get you cant come in when your child is ill, it makes complete sense, but take a day's holiday.
Why? Not their fault their child is sick. Better not to encourage people to send their sick kids to school.
Im not suggesting they should send a sick kid to school. I worked with someone who had an extra 3 weeks off work in a year than I did cos their kid was sick. How is that fair or good for the business?
