Pearson and his team were great recruiters but they still made one or two bloopers like Solano and Harper. Will be interesting to see how well Pearson can do without Walsh and Shakespeare.
They were signed before the Allams came in when we had a shoestring budget. I can't think of many Pearson signings under the Allams who didn't look decent at one point or another. I suppose technically Brady but he came back and looked decent. King perhaps? Not sure.
Good for her. So not everyone in Norway would be having a good time on £18,000 then. How do you think the daughter of a non millionaire would manage on 18,000 a year?If anyone goes on about things being bad in this country I will tell them they can't be as all the millionaires' kids I know manage alright. So, to go back to the point I made, making glib statements like everyone making 3 times as much is meaningless without comparing how much is left after tax and what that amount would buy in comparison. The national average wage in Norway after deductions is 27% more than this country. A few things cost the same or less, most cost more and a lot if those are 25% and more than they are here.
Hmmmm... People here wouldn't be so keen on some of the things there. The health services aren't free, money isn't dished out the way it is here either. A lot more stringent checks on eligibility, efforts to find work or get back to work after illness. No dishing out free houses to teenage lasses because they have a kid etc... I know someone who worked there and those were his views.
He always had a good work rate though, but yeah he's probably the worst, how much did he end up costing?
Harper ?!?!?!? Are you more pissed than me?! And actually Noberto did the occasional job too Wind up!
Trust me, their money is worth more than ours is. There's no nanny state, if you don't have a job, you don't get money, simple as. It's glorious and a model we should adopt.
Have you ever tried buying a beer in Norway. It's very like buying one here, but you feel like you've paid for 4 for each one !
How is their money worth more than ours is? If it takes 45 mins work to have enough for a beer in Norway and takes half an hour here then it is dearer for a beer for a Norwegian person. Applies equally to the cost of a TV, a fridge, a car etc... It is the reverse of a few years ago when people would say how wonderful Greece or Spain were as everything was so cheap. It wasn't for a Greek or a Spaniard earning a quarter of what we were.
Half an hour on minimum wage will buy you a beer here. Things haven't altered much over the years as far a beer goes. I could buy anout 70 pints for a week's gross wage when I started work in 1967, Someone on minimum wage could get a few more than that now (talking pints of bitter). You could afford a few more now than then ut if nett wages as the basicrate of tax then was over 40%. Most things now as a lot cheaper in real terms than then. Unfortunately one thing that isn't is housing. Which is where today's younger folk have my sympathy. And of course football is a lot more
No. Is it a bit too complex for you to grasp, Chazz? Maybe you should sink a few. I,always compare things to the cost of a pint. Though the most accurate reflection of volts used to be the price if a Mars Bar (seriously). The most horrifying is to compare the price of how many pints, actually how few, it cost to attend a football match then compared to nowadays.
Err Thanks I was merely commenting on the high price of beer in Norway though, although to be fair I haven't bought a round there for a while. Last time I did must have been over ten years ago and 4 crappy lagers cost £32!
