Agree with everything except when you mentioned us. I don't think that we've been awful at all, if you compare our previous seasons. We always follow the same pattern, do well and then have a big dip in form which rules us out of the running. We're 3rd and have a chance of getting second, so we've pretty much maintained our usual level. It's Chelsea and City who have truly underperformed this season.
Hmm not sure. I think we were good up until late November. Then we were pretty awful. Nobody took advantage so we were still up there until late January even though we were dropping points. Basically our dip was longer and even more of a collapse than normal. I'm sure we will finish the league strongly but its probably too late unless Leicester have major collapse.
I think the pressure got to our players pretty early. You could see the signs that the two favourites were off colour, Chelsea being woeful and City unable to play with any consistency. What other reason is there? We didn't have an unusual amount of injuries and we had the bulk of our key players available. Having Coqs out isn't an excuse as the management should have planned for this eventuality.
It all depends on United, if they can get their act together, then they can push Spurs off top 4, heck, it even depends on Chelski, who knows if Conte will be their saviour to redeem them? They too need a lot of work. So I still think we're pretty secure in top 4 next season, the last few seasons have taught us that one summer-new manager-new players does not automatically make things all good again. I think City-Arsenal will definitely finish in the top 4, and then the other 2 places will be a toss up between Spurs-United-Liverpool-Chelski. I think Leicester will struggle next year, not relegation struggle, but nowhere near how good they have been this season, everything has just gone for them this year, no major injuries, nice fixture lists (1 game a week), etc, next year they will have European football to contend with, teams will figure them out more, and those 1-2 things that go for them this season won't be happening next year.
I suppose there are no certainties and you never know how managers of new teams will respond. Technically Arsenal, Chelsea, City, United, Spurs and Liverpool could win the league next season (no disrespect to Leicester but this was one of those freak one off's). They all have the squads to compete for the title and will get reinforcements come this summer. Both Arsenal and Spurs are dead certs for being top performers next season as they have the momentum, consistency and stability to carry it on, but I don't see either winning it. City isn't too far off and still have a fine squad, Pep still has his work cut out but you can expect them to bounce back really well. Chelsea is a question mark, as you don't know how those pre-Madonnas will perform for Conte, who is a notorious disciplinarian. But if they listen to him then Chelsea will be back hard. If United get Maureen then that would be interesting, he has a great track record of getting teams to perform really well in his first season. Lastly Liverpool, will Klopp get the players he wants and have a clear out as well? He has a fair amount of baggage and needs the right balance of players to get his system to work. If it clicks then they will be another candidate for the title. All in all, it should be a very interesting season next year and for once, no real favourite to lift the title.
Interesting game in Europe. Be Bruyne is World Class. But City stilll have far too much dead wood in that squad.
Ibrahimovic scoring again last night. That makes 39 goals in 42 games this Season. What an absolute beast.
I know they've gone a little under the radar, but Eddie Howe deserves immense credit for (more or less) keeping Bournemouth up this season. Not many of us gave them a snowball's chance in hell of staying in the division, but it's looking like they've done it. Fair play to them.
Vardy has just scored his 20th league goal of the season to put Leiecester 0-1 up at Sunderland. Leicester are going to win this title in some Style
Fair play to them, to be honest. They've fully deserved it. Hopefully this will be an inspiration for other sides to aim big. They may only be a one hit wonder, but it's better to be a one hit wonder than a no hit wonder.
I think many teams have actually gone easy against Leicester, having a soft spot for them to go and win the league, so many of these performances against them have been BS, 1-0 after 1-0, I call BS.
It was won last week imo...7 points with only 6 games left was near impossible. .. they are brilliantly consistent. ..since losing unluckily to Arsenal they have won 5 matches without conceding a goal...they deserve to be champions imo
We're the only team to do the double over them this season. But they have been brilliant all season, deserved winners.
Yeah, they lost to us, the only team that actually tried, every other team has just laid down for them to win. It's been too easy for them, teams don't try against them because they want them to win the league.
Fully agree. As I said, no one can claim that they haven't deserved this league win. They've been the most consistent, hard-working and efficient side in the league. It's reflected in their position. Miles ahead of the pack.
Embarrassing really that Leicester will win, people (Arsenal fans) can go on about this is fairytale win for them and one for the underdogs, but that's a load of horse ****, it's just an indictment of what bottlers-chockers we are, when everyone else blew it, it put on a plate for us, and of all teams we fail to, it's...... Leicester, lol, what a joke. Wengerites be like ...... ****, there goes every excuse in the book. He has one more year to finally do something right, hopefully he surprises us all.
