I know how controversial this will be, but its been niggling me and having spoken to others I find that I am not on my own in thinking that it wouldn't be the end of the world for us to stay in the Championship. After all its not our money so why are we always so concerned about the finances? Someone will always take the club on - look at Portsmouth! I spent 3 seasons in the Prem. with a tosser from Lincoln and his son cheering every away side with no interest in City, and surrounded by plastics. I have now spent several seasons watching dire football and getting beaten week after week by teams we have little or no chance of competing with. Even this season we have played some lamentable stuff. It got to a point where I almost dreaded going! In fact we have been going to watch North Ferriby for our fix of "proper football" I know that people will say that if I don't have the ambition what's the point and I agree, but I can't help but want to watch a decent game with like minded people and feel like its "my club" again rather than some corporate machine. Rant over but I can't help but think that we have sold the soul of football
Football has no soul left to sell anymore! You won't find me sobbing if we don't get promoted I can't watch City without being desperate for us to win that game, but if we don't go up ... hey ho
I think a lot of us have that feeling about the game in general! But a scorching volley from ( let's say thudd ) at Wembley to get us promoted and all is well with the world!
It wouldn't be the end of the world for some. But for all the experts it would be. I think if we don't go up this season then we'll go into terminal decline. Gates down to 6000 in a few years, regardless of price.
The FL has always seemed like a much more enjoyable experience all round compared to the Prem, which to me always felt rather cold, clinical and corporate. Of course, this is just my opinion. Obviously if we were in Leicester's position that may be very different.
Promotion, definitely. You just never know what's round the corner. A new manager. Inspired signings. Mid-table security. A cup run. Another shot at Europe. Whatever. I don't understand the mentality that says 'ya knaa what, I'd rather be mediocre.' What's the point if you're not trying to achieve the best you can?
I'm not sure anyone is saying they'd rather be mediocre. Merely that they wouldn't be that bothered if we were. There's a big difference
Alienating the clubs fans against each other over the name change was a clever ploy but stunk high heaven for me. The mood at the club has sunk again,it's showing its ugly head on the pitch now. As for the Prem, the KC will always be more popular to those missing 5K watching Premiership footy. From a business point of view the Prem is the only place to be because despite its level playing field, there is not enough money in the Championship to interest those seeking to invest.
Of course I will always want to see City win, but if they do, then we get promoted, struggle for a few years & maybe stay up, battling relegation every year, but it's the eternal hope. Even when we were ****, I used to watch out for our results when I couldn't get it on the radio, watching teletext & final score! Nowadays it's watching SSN & live match updates! It's just that!
Blimey, for much of my time following City, the dizzy heights of mediocrity were nought but a pipe dream. Still managed some good humour and good times though.
I just support Hull City and the roller coaster ride that it provides will take me where ever it goes. PL or Andrex Wet Wipes League 10, who gives a ****. I have never regretted going to any game, never left, thinking that I will not go to the next match with hope that we will win, never stopped supporting Hull City.
How many scorching volleys has Huddlestone scored in his time? Your comment is the triumph of hope over experience.
Because he is a control freak, you saw it in his interviews. Devide and rule,it's easy at City because we love to shout each other down..yes?
