I've seen him 3 times this season. Twice against Cowdenbeath last August (once in the league cup and once in the league) and then against Stranraer over half term. He got 6 goals in those 3 games. I'd go more but with teaching I'm kinda constrained to holidays.
Sterling - If your opening post is right, we would surely get decent fees for Diame, Dawson, Livermore, Snodgrass, Hernandez and Robertson. Hopefully the manager - whoever that might be - will be able to re-invest a reasonable amount of that in the squad. The others you mention haven't featured that much and IF there is a dressing room split (wtf is going on with Elmo?) then maybe clearing the decks in the way you suggest might happen might not be a bad thing. Whatever division we are in - and I haven't given up hope of us winning the play-offs - lets hope we end up with a manager and a squad that produce attacking, "have a go" football.
Problem is Tigerrev… if we do get money for those mentioned, it won't be 'good' money. Have any of them really enhanced their worth over this and last season? Worse, with the reduction year over year of parachute payments, any revenue gained from those transfers will likely be used to offset the clubs finances, much was the case this season despite having had a significant parachute payment to work with. Next season will be tougher than tough and any new manager will have to work the loan market hard and well I think or have the ability and knowledge of players in the 1 million bracket, if that!!
But if we don't get any money to reinvest in the squad, how can our owners ever hope to get us back to the PL and therefore get their money back? It's a catch 22 I know and I agree that any new manager will have to be used to working on a shoestring budget. Ideal job for Gary Rowett?
It undoubtedly wouldn't be a bad thing at all, I just worry that given a lack of funds losing that many players would mean a hell of a lot of work to get bodies through the door.
You went to Cowdenbeath? Fair play. Strange no one's snapped him up if he was banging them in back in August though. I see Akinde for Barnet has 18 goals more than Northamptons top scorer.
Powell to miss the rest of the season. What an absolute waste of a signing. People can lambast me for my initial comments about him but my dismay in signing him went beyond any off-field allegations I'd heard about him. Just so disappointing.
It's Bruce's fault - he should known Snodgrass would get a freak dislocated kneecap injury at DQPR in the first league game.
http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/...s-injury-hell-put-5146943#LCb2iS4ByuWhB5eU.97 his knee was suspect and damaged - it was only time before it would go - it lasted one league game and that was the end of it
I'm aware of the context, but not as bad as actually signing an injured player then being surprised by said injury.
read the article I just posted - the pain was there for two years - it was only a question of time - he was injured, he said he was in pain for two years - absolutely no surprise that it packed in - ridiculous signing in the circumstances
I understand your point. Just suggesting signing diomande and Powell and then being surprised when they struggle to get back to fitness is in some ways worse.
Diomande had no previous injury issues, the injury he had was worse than initially thought, but he was less of an injury risk than Snodgrass.
