What happens if the premier league finishes like this. 1. Leicester. 2. Spurs 3. Arsenal. 4 Man C 5. Man U 6. Whu. Liverpool win the Europa league, Man c the champions league. Leicester, Spurs, Arsenal, make the champions league but who joins them ?.
Was there not some ruling laid down recently that the team winning the champions would just be part of the allocation we have at present?. Meaning four places was to mean that, and teams outside top four places would be discounted. Same as losers in a cup final if they were beaten by a team in a higher competition.
Just tried to make sense of the UEFA coefficient scaling and on the face we may lose a place to Italy who only have three places currently. Suppose that could mean if ManC win it then the fifth place is not necessarily automatic. I think!

When the league was begun it allocated places based on the points gained through wins by each nation in the league phase then the KO phase which is why Germany, Spain and us were top three due to our history. As time has gone on our ratings have diminished through a lack of success both in the league then last sixteen stages. We have been overtaken by Italy lately according to that formula.
Would it not be city and Liverpool? Surely Europa League winners takes priority over 5th place? I'm not sure, that just seems logical to me!
My understanding is city would take a place as champions league winners at the expense of the 4th placed team in the premiership. This is what happened when Chelsea won it and Tottenham missed out after finishing 4th

In fact Man u would miss out at the moment finishing 5th, but Man city if they win the champions league but finish 4th will qualify as they make up 4th place anyhow. Very complicated. Arsenal will miss out then.
Rules were changed the only way you get 5 teams is for the Europa League winners, Spain had 5 this year with Sevilla. In this scenario it would be top 4 plus Liverpool.
Italy didn't pass us in the co-efficient by the way, Juve going out before City and Liverpool and United both staying in the Europa means we have top 4 for a minimum of 2 more years. Could be more should city go on and win it.
