Brady, Stewart, Koren, Garcia, Dudgeon, Barmby, Devitt, Kilbane, Atkinson, Emerton, Townsend is enough cover for the wings. If Pusic signs then that's a little bit more cover, but I hardly think we're short there. I realise some combinations of those players won't be possible at certain times but to have 9 first team players and 2 juniors capable of playing on the wing is enough. There's no way that any more than 3 or 4 of them would be out at one time.

Centre back is the place where we need more cover, unless Bradley is going to reliable enough to play in the first team when needed. I'd be more comfortable if we signed Ayala or another CB but if we start the season with this squad, I'm happy.

Yes i also would sign him up on a short term contract, say to january 2012 and see what he is like against better teams.
if he performs then give him a better contract. win win for both parties.

Pusic scored a nice goal and was denied a stone wall penalty when tripped in the box. how the ref., did not give that is beyond me and he was from Hull. friendly or not, game won or not, a pen is a pen. surely ?

Just for future reference, it's against house rules to ever suggest that Kevin Kilbane could be a left wing option for Hull City AFC. <ok>

Ha too true. I will make no bones about it with Kilbane his time at City has been an unmitigated disaster in my eyes. His only good game i can remember was against Wigan when we won 2-1 but that was cos he was marking Jason Scotland. But last night i was sat in west lower near the north stand and i actually felt sorry for him. His legs have completely gone. The young kid up front for them just kept standing him up and walking by him. He just waved a dangling right leg 3 times and th ekid walked by him. Plus his cross field pass across the back four that was cut out for their goal.
The lights gone out Kev retire now.

2 of the names mentioned have long-term injuries, and another 2 have never played a first team game. Kilbane gets far too much stick in my opinion, but his days as a left winger have long gone.

I think it's become obvious we need cover at CB due to McShane's injury, but Bradely looks to be developing steadily into a solid centre half. He'll definitely get his chance this season <ok>

definitely, he'll be the only one we will subsidise wages for by the sounds of it

Despite the Allam's protestations to the contrary, I think we'll end up chipping in money towards the costs of Bullard, Ghilas and Kilbane, to make sure they all depart.

more likely to be a bullard pay off than a sacking, avoid what could be very costly litigation

Agreed you wouldn't want Kilbane on the wing, I was just listing players we have who can play on the wing. There's more of them than we have strikers, full backs, and even central midfielders (who everyone says we have an abundance of)

    Is McShane injured?

why is the left wing such a problem ? brady or dudgeon surely ? plus i would like to see more of this Martin Pusic but against better teams. Give him a short term contract and see how he goes ?

Killer is not that expensive anymore. He split his final year 2010/11 to 2011/12 so is in effect on half wages to what he was. His experience around the squad is useful. KK is a good pro.

£13k is still a **** load in Championship terms.

It's similar to what Okocha, Hughes and Pedersen (our highest earners) were on in the promotion season when we started spending above our means, which eventually got us into that mess.

I'd bet all of our new signings in the NP era are on considerably less than that.

Indeed. And to think that there are still so called Tigers fans out there who bemoan the loss of the fun boy 3 and who still back Bullard. Incredible.

I'd still back Bullard if he stays, he'd be our best player. If he goes, which seems probable, I'll forget him and move on but I don't have this need to despise him like some do.

Left wing itself isn't a problem. I said Brady can't be used anywhere else because there's nobody suitable to replace him and everyone seemed to read that as me saying Brady was the only left winger we had. What I meant was that with our squad (Stewart injured) you wouldn't ever choose to play him elsewhere because it would needlessly weaken the team far more than you needed to. ie if he's needed in other positions then it means we've lost 3 or more players for the same position, and most of those players are the same players people are suggesting would replace Brady at left wing.

I've said on another thread we're lacking a fast option at right wing (at least until Stewart is back) and cover at the back. The fact we have Pusic on trial would suggest the management agree we could do with another winger if one is available, whether that's a right winger or a left winger to let Brady play on the right is irrelevent.

Kilbane is not up to Championship standard anymore, he's a great pro but we are wasting a tonne of wages on him.
