Out of all the managers and teams, I'd still say Wenger is in the most ideal position again, just like this year, out of everyone we will still be the most stable one, so it's still there for us and Wenger, if we make the right decisions in the summer market. Despite Wenger's tactical flaws and what have you, if we had a world class striker, we would have been getting points in games we failed to this year, and would have saved more points than we dropped if we had better defenders. We have dropped too many points this year from lack of ruthlessness on top after having to rely on Giroud-Walcott, and then dropped too many points in the back having to rely on a cracking Mertesacker, and a Gabriel who unfortunately doesnt look good enough or suited enough for the EPL. Just look at Cech, he has saved us many points, imagine we didnt have him? How many more points would we drop? So top players, despite the manager, can make big differences.
I suppose we can continuously talk about this manager and that, but the bare face facts is Wenger is unable to get Arsenal consistent enough to win the title. They just don't seem to have the confidence or belief to actually do it. I'm not surprised when they see Wenger's nervous |@ss on the touchline!
It's why I am really hoping Citey don't have CL football next season, it'll make it that much harder for Pep...
Could benefit them depending on what they do, if they're in the Europa and just play their reserves, then realistically they only have 1 competitive game a week in the league, and as we see with Leicester, it's very beneficial to have those less important games. That's the plus for Conte, he only has to play 1 game a week minus the cup games with Chelski, so they will have that advantage.
Sometimes the very best want a change too, look at Ibra, he is on top of the world at PSG, and still wants to move. Ozil had that, Di Maria had that, Ronaldo had that. Also sometimes for cb's, they're not necessarily playing for a team who is offering that.
Quite a few top class players have been on record as saying they'd like to sign to play for Wenger. Ozil signed for that reason. Don't forget as well that while a WC striker could sign for Citey, either Madrid or Bayern and get European football, top wages ect but wouldn't necessarily be guaranteed 1st team football, because of the competition. At Arsenal you could pretty much guarantee that the attack would be molded around them.
The top teams can not get any worse next season, i can guarantee that. At least 2 top teams will get significantly better and add Spurs to the mix. The league will only get more competitive and there will be less gettable points on offer for us. Unless Wenger clones Henry, Vieira, Adams and Cole, we will end up the same way.
We will improve as well, a lot of our players are still at good ages to go up, rather than down. Every year we hear the same thing, next year everyone will improve, and Arsenal will be in trouble, yet in hasnt ever really materialised. At the end of the day we will potentially finish this season either 3rd or 2nd, that's far from a disaster and shows potential for improvement.
And Chelski are losing again. Think it's far fetched to just assume they will so massively improve next year from 10th now, to cause us huge problems, while us on 3rd, will just somehow digress so bad behind everyone else. I'm as pissed off as the next guy with our season, but sometimes there is such a huge lack of respect for Arsenal, we finish 3rd, and everyone talks about how we will be in trouble next year from teams finishing in mid-table and teams like United who have been struggling to get into top 4 next year. I'd say finishing 3rd is a good barometer for moving forward and getting stronger.
Totally disagree. City are only two players away from having a TOP squad again. Pep is starting with a better squad, he's a better manager with a bigger budget. City will finish above Liverpool next year.
Well we can say the same about us too. Add a world class striker and centre back and you can say we have a very good squad at our disposal.
Maybe not yet but he has everything to become one. 25 goals so far this year and 20 last. That's very good for a 22 year old.
Last year you just needed a proper DM, then you got Coq and things looked good. Now you have Coq and Elneny and it's the centre backs that are at fault. What will you need when you get 2 new CBs?
City will get some world class players in this summer and Pep will get them playing better. As for Liverpool, you can see the signs that Klopp is getting them playing better, with them drawing away against a strong Dortmund side. He just needs a mini clear-out and get the right players in to play his system. Chelsea had a dreadful season but have a very good squad, Conte is a proven manager and should get them right up the table again. If Man U get Maureen and he has a good transfer window, expect them to be better, i mean, he can't do any worse than LvG. Lastly, Spurs are looking like a good unit and I will expect them to build on that next season. Our season will depend largely on one thing, can Wenger get a top world class striker in. If he does then we should be in the mix for top places.
Thats true we do, but remember with Pep City will be signing a guy who has won... Barcelona La Liga: 2008–09, 2009–10, 2010–11 Copa del Rey: 2008–09, 2011–12 Supercopa de España: 2009, 2010, 2011 UEFA Champions League: 2008–09, 2010–11 UEFA Super Cup: 2009, 2011 FIFA Club World Cup: 2009, 2011 Bayern Munich Bundesliga: 2013–14, 2014–15 DFB-Pokal: 2013–14 UEFA Super Cup: 2013 FIFA Club World Cup: 2013 ...since we last won the league.
