Clasie, Bertand and Ward-Prowse let Townsend walk across the pitch. He is only going to go one way. He can't use his right foot - show him down the line boys. Great strike but he can do that given the run of St Mary's and all the time in the world.
ehhh... I don't know. Normally, I'd agree. But we were up 3-0. Don't want to give away a stupid penalty or get a card. Townsend is not going to be able to score three goals like that in 30 minutes.
Well it won't be a problem as we're going to win comfortably, but it's an easy goal to let in. I mean, Townsend can only do that, don't allow him to cut in on his stronger foot. But no, he runs past four players, and they just watch him going until he found some space to release a shot. Anyone of them could've stepped out and stopped him. It's th kind of defending I'd expect form Newcastle, and not from Southampton.
Look up Indian Runner Ducks and you will see the resemblance. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=Runner Ducks Running&&view=detail&mid=AF3F2614C15CAD44B77CAF3F2614C15CAD44B77C&FORM=VRDGAR
Good weekends work so far: We win, West Ham draw, Chelsea lose Just need Liverpool and Stoke to somehow both lose tomorrow. Draw probably best but I'd rather Stoke win

Good performance but feel that Newcastle made us look better than we were. Some poor options taken in the final third meant that the 2-0 halftime score flattered them. Could easily have been 5 or 6. The second half we looked lively for the first few minutes and then progressively sat back and invited them onto us. Conceded a soft goal - he made FF stretch once before and the second time everyone in stadium (and watching on TV) knew what he was about to do and we let him do it. Getting a clean sheet against Newcastle is hardly anything to boast about but would have been nice.
A fantastic idea by the club and council to televise us playing against a pastiche of the Newcastle team we'll be facing soon. Allowed the players to memorize their upcoming opponents look and style and gave the fans a genuine laugh watching these aspiring actors comically imitate a competent footballing team. Inspired stuff, well done Les, Nuffield theatre and Southampton City Council!
no ones mentioned the fact Charlie Austin hobbled out of the warm up and wasn't seen again after? plus side though, we won !!!
