In the middle ages, the muslim world was a beacon of civilisation and learning, while Christian Europe was still emerging from the savagery of the dark ages.

In 500 years, "islamic civilisation" has become an oxymoron, whilst Europe remains pretty much the best place on earth in which to live.

No such thing as islamic civilisation today, hence why the likes of ISIS are fighting who they are fighting.

Sure the media have you believe its a threat to europe, but statistically it never has been yet. Biggest threat to the ''muslim world'' has always been europe
from teh propped up regimes of saud to saddam to Gaddaffi etc the regions have everything europe wants, weather, wealth and a better standard of living so false wars and strife are started.

When you get time read up what life was like under gaddafi , believe me it was bliss. Things like having a house was a basic human right, education and medication wee all free, farmers given free house and land and seed, £5000 dollars given to mothers when they had a kid, free electricity, petrol 0.14 dollars a litre, 85% of people educated, state owned bank giving zero interest loans to its people

Surely a basic tennet of a democracy is the separation of church and state, while with Islam the church is the state so to speak. The debate over which is " best " is a different issue, but they do seem to be mutually exclusive.

Democracy in itself is man made law so yeah it would fly against the basic understanding of islamic law. That being that God is the lawmaker
Obviously that is certain laws and there is room to manoeuvre on the day to day stuff

However I dont really see a separation from state and church in this country, ultimately the laws in this country are subject to church of england approval

The issue though is that with the British structure (house of lords etc) there is no democracy in this country.

And **** all, just pointing it out.

    That OK, Bruce?

People slam other countries for religion and state being too close whilst the UK head of state is also a religious leader.

Hmm. I'm not aware that I " slammed " anyone/any other countries for their relationship between church and state. Quite the opposite actually if you want scroll back and see what I said. I didn't mention or offer the UK as a comparison at any point. I was, rather obviously I thought, just noting the inherent and unreconcilable difference between democracy and theocracy.
