Goal-line technology is set to be introduced in the Premier League next year. FIFA president Sepp Blatter last night gave the green light to bring in *goal-line cameras from August 2012, as he completed his turnaround in the wake of Frank Lampardâs âgoal that never wasâ against Germany. Blatter had been a fierce opponent of the idea until he and FIFA were embarrassed by the *outrageous decision not to give Englandâs goal in *Bloemfontein in last yearâs World Cup. Blatter said the *decision to finally bring football up to date with other sports, like tennis, cricket and rugby, can *effectively be made in just eight months time. âAt the International FA Board meeting in London in March we will make the final decision on goal-line technology,â he said. âIf it proves to be *accurate and affordable then the IFAB will decide goal-line technology will be *introduced by the 2014 World Cup. âIf that is the case, other nationâs associations and leagues will have the right to use this goal-line *technology. This will be a new approach for the World Cup concerning referees.â For the technology to be agreed, it has to be proven to give an accurate result, direct to the match referee rather than a fourth *official, within one second of the ball âcrossing the lineâ. That seems to rule out âHawkeyeâ and the *adidas-led Cairos chip-in-ball system, leaving high angle cameras likely to emerge as the chosen path. If IFAB â where FIFA have four votes â agree by a majority of 6-2, the move will be ratified in July, with the Premier League then able to introduce the system in time for season 2012-13. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/new...er-FIFA-give-it-greenlight-article776948.html
I was discussing this last week in the pub. The technology is so simple, in fact you could do away with linesmen and never have a dodgy offside decision again as well as have an immediate signal to the ref every time the ball crosses any line.
Only about 10 years too late if this is correct, although the part where they said if it's affordable and accurate sounds sketchy.
Oooh, Commo, you'r such a cynical person. Are you suggesting the right honorable Mr Blatter is slightly on the dodgy side?
Tell FIFA to f*ck off. Why now? Blatter the ****er who said only last year goalline technology would never come in, is bowing down, in a miniscule way, to the majority of sensible FA's of due to the absolutely outrageous decisions regarding the world cups. Cancers too good for that c*nt. Do not want to upset anybody regarding previous sentence ( My mam died 36 years ago of this illness) but thats how strongly I feel against the most corrupt, incompetent ****ing twat I have ever seen or heard.
I agree with goal line technology but For me computerised linesemen or whatever would totally ruin the game. The hole point of football is to debate these sort of decisions
No system can ever be perfect. What happens in airports and the London Tube, I hope these are not the locations of any inevitable crash? - They have backup plans for worst case scenario situations.
