Premier League Sat 9th April Boleyn Ground Mods - feel free to amend/overwrite this thread once the 'official' match thread is created. I just wanted a place to discuss the game for now. And in particular the information Wenger gave in his press conference - Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has arrived and begins with an roll call... Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey is available for selection again, as is Mathieu Flamini. He says Tomas Rosicky is ready to play for the under-21s. On Jack Wilshere, Wenger adds: "Let's not rush him. He will play for the under-21s on Friday but I'm cautious." Interesting that Ramsey is back, which gives us strength in depth. Though personally I hope he remains on the bench as Iwobi and Elneny are playing much better than Ramsey was pre-injury! Good to know that Wilshere is coming back soon enough to challenge for a England squad place, hopefully a summer of International football will allow him to actually kick on! (I hope). This game with be a big, big challenge for us. We badly need Welbeck to have his scoring boots on and for Sanchez' form to keep improving (if we have him back at top form for the run in then it could make all the difference). Also we need our defence to pull their bleeding socks up.
Gonna be the hardest game for us from our remaining fixture list. (IMO) Bilic had his tactics spot on last time they played us. We will have to play well to get the 3 pts.
Agreed, a very tough game for us, West Ham are one of the toughest side to beat at their ground. But our team is playing some good stuff at the moment and I wouldn't put it past us winning this one.
We will have to play very well I agree. Though last time we played them we played absolutely shocking!

We have a similar squad available. Ramsey could join the squad again because he had a good training session on Wednesday and would normally have a final test on Friday. There’s a possibility he could be back in the squad. on Flamini... Flamini is in a similar situation to Ramsey. on overall injury situation... Santi and Alex [Oxlade-Chamberlain] are the only injuries now. At the moment we [are waiting] on Alex coming back to fitness and Santi to practise. They should not be too far. Overall, the injury situation looks quite good. on Rosicky and Wilshere... Tomas Rosicky and Jack Wilshere will play for the under-21s on Friday night.
Should be a decent game. Arsenal aren't really playing for anything at this point though, so pressure will be off as we see the famous "title winning form" when it doesn't/won't count for anything. I'll take a draw but would be dissapointed not to win.
Tough game. If we win it Im confident we will finish above Spurs. If we loose well.. 3rd is probably the outcome.
I don't know about that, they are playing well, have a 4 point cushion and we still have to play - Palace WBA Sunderland Norwich Man C & Villa Normally I wouldn't be too worried about Sunderland or Norwich but by that time they will be fighting tooth and nail for their lives, and every point will be crucial (especially as it's either Sunderland's or their arch-rivals Newcastle who are going to get relegated). Palace with Pardew won't be particularly easy, even though they've been on a pretty bad run of form. Obviously Man C (as they showed against PSG) are a very good side regardless of form. And it shouldn't matter by the time the Villa game comes along...
West Ham haven't lost a game at home since August, and although we do have a very good record against them away from home, they look like a different animal this season. The likes of Lanzini and Payet especially have made them so much more of a threat going forward and from set-pieces. We need to try and not give any fouls away outside of the penalty area because if we do, Payet will be nailed on to score. You just know it. They also have quite a lot of athletic players in their team, full of power, pace and aggression. I know Ramsey will be back in the squad, but the Coquelin-Elneny combination has served us well the last month and I hope it continues. We look so much more balanced with them in midfield and I'm hoping Ramsey doesn't get shoehorned in just because Wenger loves him. I think we'll put up a good fight, but can't see us winning. 2-2 for me.
Yep tough game this one. West Ham are playing really well and have some very dangerous players. As Brunel says too, their home record is really good. So overall a really big test for us tomorrow lunchtime. I'd like to see Elneny in the team again as he's done really well, so has Iwobi, they both deserve to start. It will be tight, I reckon 1-1 and that will be a decent point for us to be honest.
Why on earth would you think he will be selected for England? He has not played all season and there have been much better players than him selected in the last few games. If he makes the squad it will be a travesty, if he plays it would be unbelievable incompetence from the manager.
Because from the selection of midfielders we have, he's one of the best. Even if he has been injured all season. There aren't 'much better players' than him in the England squad, either.
Maybe the "much" bit was a bit ott, who do you think he should be selected ahead of from the last few games?
Well, let's look at all the current crop of midfielders who could make the squad: Henderson Drinkwater Delph Barkley Carrick Alli Lallana Milner Shelvey Perhaps you could make a case for one or two of them being ahead of Wilshere for the Euro 2016 squad, but bar that, I genuinely think he should walk his way back into the squad, even if not the first team. Not one of those midfielders has his passing, vision or dribbling ability. Maybe Barkley is a better dribbler, but that's it.
Aside from Man C(who we have a good record against) that's a pretty decent fixture list. Spurs have.. United Stoke West Brom Chelsea Southampton Newcastle
