I rarely have anything to offer with regards to rock music, I listen to some of the music posted and think "Let's all hang ourselves" but then that's what they probably think about my suggestions.

Just as well there's music for all of us innit <ok>

Some folk are adamant that what they listen to is 'proper music' and everything else is 'talentless noise'.

See I don't get that, I'm an avid music fan of what must be more than 10 different genres. Those who stick one? Fair play, that's their bag but to think everything else is ****e when their taste is so limited is plain absurd imo

A few diffrent genre's. Floyd and other muck is probably the most popular.

Billy quite likes the punk stuff (which i dont mind)

I prefer the Madness/specials stuff and rockabilly/psychobilly stuff.

A few like the rap/hip hop stuff.

Relic/Nostaligic probably like Dame Vera Lynn.

I think there's an element of posters on here who maybe think music is talentless if there is no band who play instruments.

I can appreciate that to play an instrument is a talent but it's not the be-all and end all, plus I don't get how somebody can say a guy strumming a guitar is more talented than somebody likeThe Cut Chemist... It's like saying Delia Smith is a better chef than Heston Blumenthal.

Oh there's a fair few of us like different things, but not enough of their genre to really get a music thread going without it just ending up a prog rock thread of dying out instantly. Prog rock just happens to dominate this board.

The music threads on the Hull board are out of this world. The diverse set of inbred bastards <laugh>

But they are instruments, just very different to traditional ones. Samplers, laptops, software programs even the turntables themselves are instruments now and the turntables in particular are not easy to pick up let alone master.

Well, this isn't about money but it is sung by a bloke called Zoot Money. Big hit in 1966:

How would the Beatles rank alongside other top bands if they started out in 2016?

Probably wouldn't pass Simon Cowells audition due to having slightly wonky and discoloured teeth

Billie Holiday and Janis Joplin - never been anything like them before or since and never likely to be. Thank Gawd for YouTube.
Do you know Janis flattened Jim Morrison (The Doors) like a sack of sh1t with a Whiskey Bottle?
