I'm bored and in a whimsical mood, so while I wait for my curry to be delivered (Beef Madras, Cott Tandoori) I've been contemplating our transfers for next season and how good/bad it might be. If we don't get promoted, we'll stand to lose (in my opinion naturally): Diame Robertson Dawson (worst case scenario, there's a chance he'll stick around but if an offer comes in I doubt it.) Snodgrass Huddlestone Livermore Hernandez Powell (loan ended) Hayden (loan ended) Akpom (loan ended) Elmo Bruce Jnr Aluko - Contract expired Taylor - Contract expired CJM - Contract expired That's a lot of players, in fact it's most of our first team. I can't see McGregor leaving at his age and with another year on his contract. He's got Kuciak to compete with next year as I imagine Jak will leave on a free (shame, but I feel he's only here as a cheap option). Bruce Jnr will probably do one in search of first team football, although I'd keep him for a season in the Championship. As for incomings, it'd look pretty grim because I imagine the money from the above sales would be used to offset debt. We'll probably have a bit of cash and the figures quoted are just rough guesses, they could be more or less, but I highly doubt we'll see anybody arrive for over £4m. So, incoming wise (and these are names I'm aware of and would be happy to see at the club, naturally you might pick different ones): Faissal El-Baktaoui - Dunfermline - 200k (ST) Tom Bradshaw - Walsall - £1.8m (ST) Bradley Dack - Gillingham - 800k (CM) Alim Ozturk - Hearts - £1m (CB) Jonny Williams - Palace - Loan - (CM) Ikechi Anya - Watford - Loan - (WB) Alan Judge - Brentford - £3m (AM) Nick Powell - Man U - Free (Whatever he is) Jake Bidwell - Brentford - £2m - (LB) Isaac Hayden - Arsenal - £1m (CB/CM) Plus promote Tymon, Clark, Watson, Luer, Bowen and Annan to the first team to bulk it out and we'd have a squad of GK: McGregor, Kuciak, Watson LB: Bidwell, Tymon CB: Maguire, Ozturk, Davies RB: Lenihan, Dave CM - Meyler, Hayden, Williams, Dack, Clark LW - Clucas, Maloney RW - Anya, Annan AM - Powell, Judge CF - Diomande, Bradshaw, El Baktaoui, Luer, Bowen It's not pretty and it is of course dependent on whoever leaves, but it gives us a decent squad that at least won't fall further down the leagues.
No pickle tray!!! Clueless completely clueless. What if the Madras is **** or horsemeat. No Plan B. You always go for a set meal with an Indian. Tactically naive there. Sterling Out
I can't be arsed to go out for a curry. I have to go pick up Mrs Archer at 11 so I ****ed off the boozy night in the local for a bit of golf and curry. The Madras is good, it's very, very good. There is a pickle tray, with a good sized naan (garlic) and poppadoms. To quote Alan Partridge "oh that's first class, that is superb."
Regardless of who comes in, we stand to lose between 12 and 14 first team players at the end of the season if they're all bought. That's a lot and it'll be a hell of a rebuilding job.
You forgot the most important one! The manager, why would new manager want Powell & those players? Why would SB?
He might not, but as I don't know who the incoming manager will be, it's hard to judge who they'd want. These are just the players I'd go for.
Just players I'd like to see come into the club really, I could've suggested more but based on how much we'd have to spend, I chose a level of player we'd probably be looking at. That El-Baktaoui lad at Dunfermline is being tracked by a fair few Championship and SPL sides, he's far too good to be playing in the Scottish League 1.
I don't think Livermore, Snodgrass or Robertson will leave. The former two would have a sense of owing us after we stood by them during their absences.
My own ideas? Did you not get that from what I said? Sheesh why does everything have to be spelled out for you?
Pulis has apparently scouted Livermore and Robertson (although I expect Robbo will go somewhere better) and Snodgrass will easily leave for a bigger club. They might owe us for medical bills, but given the chance to play in the Premier League, none of them will be angling to stay.
I got my suggestions from assessing who I think will leave, what kind of budget we will have and what we will need. I then applied said knowledge to players I'm aware of that I think would improve us, or of that ilk anyway. I don't even know why I bothered. It's self explanatory, you're obviously some kind of moron.
