As the assistant, anything Phelan suggests we implement is decided upon finally by Bruce. We have no idea how well they work together but bringing them together was a decision made when it needed to be made. Whether that's regretted by them or the club we don't know. Is it a partnership that the owners think is getting the best out of the playing staff? What do you think?

In the interest of gathering current opinion, ive amended the poll so everyone is able to change their vote if they've had a change of heart.

I'm going with the respectful 'yes', his time is done but he had a promotion/Europe/FA Cup final in four years. Mixed feelings from me but this season it's been more by luck than judgement where we are from the management and lessons haven't been learnt or learnt too slowly. There is a nagging feeling I have that with a different manager this season we would be in a far better position.

Far be it for me to tell anyone how to vote, but for me his approach to that historic European campaign was the beginning of the end.

We will probably never qualify for Europe again in my lifetime and the way we approached it before the group breaks my heart. All we needed was to get through a tie we really should have if we'd picked a full strength XI and we'd have been guaranteed a brilliant series of games that would live in the memory for ever. It really is unforgivable.

What would your team have been? Bearing in mind we only lost the away leg on a monumental **** up from McGregor.

    McGregor
    Rosenior
    McShane
    Maguire
    Figueroa
    Chester
    Meyler
    Brady
    Boyd
    Sagbo
    Aluko

I meant for the first leg. The damage was already done.

Did you go to Lokeren? Let's not mess about, they were ****ing ****e and we only started playing when he put the subs on.

I really didnt remember that Figgy played. You've got it right there...Jesus...

Its all easy to say afterwards. Jelavic was coming back from a World Cup and struggled for fitness. Hudd was about two stone overweight.
Rosenior is/was the greatest player ever. same for Mcshane. Long had gone and we didnt have any other forward. Boyds better than Diame apparently and Brady went for 8 million.
Again we lost cos of a mental **** up from Greegsy. No more no less.

It wouldnt have mattered if we'd scored away instead of playing for a 0-0. So there is more than less.

Even playing for a 0-0 away in Europe is ****ing stupid, 0-0 is a better result for the home team than the away team.

Bruce has never been much cop in Europe anyway as a player or manager, I remember Romario and Barcelona giving him and Pallister a proper going over years ago, probably one of the first Champions League matches.

Is it? Wow thanks for telling me.
So without Greegsys **** up we'd have won 2-1 at home then.
    Get over it.

yes but with a stronger side there was more chance of rescueing a draw etc....whatever people opinions on who should have played, he admitted at the time he was resting players for the league games, so it wasn't the strongest available side, so clearly wasn't taken it very seriously which is what people some people are upset about.
its the debate which splits people, same with those who said they would rather guarantee finish 17th in the premier league for the £££ instead of winning the cup final or would rather gain promotion this season instead of winning the cup..

some fans just want everything that comes with the premier league and fair enough, and others would like that, but would take a cup win or a decent European campaign any day of the week.

But i have. I moved on bought another season pass and support the team. While you're sitting and sulking cos your European dream was taken from you, so decided not to go to anymore home games. Sad.
