You make no sense, how does this mean European football is dead? Every competition has its bad games....in fact, a lot of big games are dull affairs with tacky football. Also the last half hour the score was already 1-1 so it was obviously not like what you saw for the whole 90 mins Seriously though, how does this mean European football is dead? I'm not going to lie, English football in Europe is pretty dire at the moment so you could say that that's dead at the moment. If you want to see fine examples of this then watch the Dortmund vs Spurs games or the Midtjylland vs Man U game.
what... they didn't bring an offensive banner.... wow.... i thought all fans were just filth given uefa didn't take any action on those utd ones. could it be? some people can have a joke without going too far? nah? surely not these days?
I'd have taken that score before KO, indeed, it was my perdictioooo. However, it could have been even better. Their goalie has a good'un. I was very happy with the commitment as well. Great night AND I pulled Julie. See Cheese thread later Let's get this finished at Anfield.
The commentary I listened to said it was end to end in the first half, sounded a good game that did drop off later in the 2nd half.
It was high press kind of game but it was end to end cos we are awful on the ball and gave it away constantly. If we'd passed it to each other and kept it we could hvae destroyed them. we were not capable.
I predicted 2-0 to us, which it easily could have been All I hope for the second leg is a fair ref and we're through
we did. thought there were 2 absolute sitters missed. lovern and origi. But they missed a couple too. we did live on our wits at times at the back. coughed up chances where some really last ditch stuff was needed from CBs etc to stop goals Overall 1-1 was fair. it could have been 2-2 or we could have lost 3-1 so i'll take it with glee
We kept the ball a lot of times when other teams would have hoofed. It's difficult when you know you have to carve open a perfect counter because the ref will let the home team commit as many professional fouls to break up play as they like.
I agree, we played well against top opponents. No need to pick apart every aspect of the game imo, every team gives the ball away and makes mistakes, all players make errors but as a whole we did well and we're in a good position.
yes but... first when we kept it we played into woeful trouble and it did show these Germans aint tottenham cos if he'd done what we did first half with sahko and can we'd have lost 3 goals. They took so many touches extra an dangerous passes that dortmund didn't get a foot in on. It was not brilliant one touch it was head down control look up pass stuff and they still didn't cream us. But then when we did then try to defend out half our hoofs were right down middle to their players with no contest and it came right back There was one clearance (so called) in second half where clyne kicked it and it went all of 20 yards cos he kicked it stright up in air and they got free in dangerous area off it. Our clearances must get better high, wide, long.. put it out of play and reset shape. its not about work rate or fitness now, klopp seems to have gotten that out of them (better be seen v stoke or i shall be upset) its about ability now and you can see some guys just aint up to it.
I can agree to that. It is all about big game composure. It is about players like Moreno not to throw it away by stupid unnecessary lunges which he got away with and playing with intelligence. Klopp says it is 50-50. He is spot on. We are playing at home but goals for Dortmund will mean more. They also have the advantage of knowing what's is needed. We could stick and play for a 0-0 or we could go for a win. It is finely poised and could go either way.
Unfortunately, Sakho and Can are the only ones from midfield and defence that actually like to get on the ball and try to make things happen. Henderson gets it, doesn't bother turning and just passes back or sideways, Lovren plays it safe all the time and Clyne is really poor on the ball. Yes, Can does dwell but that's because he's always trying to play positively but can't find the options. That's not to say he's perfect already, because I think he needs to Improve offensively. This isn't me having a go at you but I won't criticise players for getting on the ball and making a mistake for trying to play from the back. This is Liverpool - we don't just hoof the ball because there's a bit of pressure. This is why England rarely produce quality technical players because they are heavily criticised for every loose pass they make. Look at John Stones - he has the potential to become a top class defender but look st the criticism he gets for 'overplaying '. If we continue to take the confidence and freedom from players, then what's left? A bunch of Milners and Hendersons.
its going to be a great night either way. anfield will be as good as first utd game but with actual football fans in the away end. its going to be special and i'm going to be on radio for build up as it is going to sound amazing.
it'd help him if he's maybe just consider thinking about what to do before receiving it. I agree on henderson. I don't agree on stones. theres playing and over playing and when you are in your six yard area or with back to goal on your own touch line or hmeed in deep you are over playing and he's been done for it rightly. My opinion is play it once but if you need to tkae a touch them play it right back to the guy who gave it you then you've not done well. Thats cos the guy who gave it you will have a guy right on him or he'd not have passed it to you! The thing being attempted is beating the press with a good pass, not ge ton ball think about it play it to next guy who does the same and you end up hemmed in your full back channel and play a deadly square ball or back to keeper. this is rogers game. no klopp is all about getting it forward positively but not hoofing. the idea is beat the press then move it and we are not playing one touch to do it. If you want to retain possession and create an attack a hoof is no good but if you are defending a lead then safety first is ideal, provided you do it right. we seem to not care where we put it. compare this to atletico v barca. it took barca ages to grind them down cos they would draw fouls and kick it out of play not just give it right back to barca.. barca forced them so deep in the end the legs went though... We haven't the ability to even clear lines right never mind play one touch and pick the right next pass in good time.
