I have received details for my season ticket renewal for 2 x £747 to be paid by 15th May. But I do not know exactly what I will be buying given the fact that half our team is once more being linked with transfers to other clubs. Davis to Rangers Forster to Chelsea Wanyama to Arsenal Mane to Manchester United Pelle back to Italy Jose to a top Portuguese side Tadic supposedly unhappy and wants to get away I therefore don't know what the team will look like next season and yet the club want one and a half thousand pounds from me for a pig in a poke. Can you think of anything else you might buy where you haven't got a clue what you might get?
You said the same last season. Remember: 1. You will renew your season ticket regardless. 2. We are not going to lose all our players.
Personally I am bloody excited about next season. Leicester have shown what can be done. If we can get Austin, long and jay rod firing, a new right back and an attacking midfielder, the sky is the limit. I still can't stretch to a season ticket this time though!
Saucer of milk for table 7! Fair point though. I can't think of any club where the ST holder could be guaranteed the make up of the team for the following season.
Being the eternal optimist that I am, I would say that this summer will be different from the last two, because of Ronald. He has made it clear that he doesn't want his best players sold off, so I don't think we'll lose more than a couple.
Can't see us letting them go unless they are coming to the last year of their contract and won't sign a new one, or someone offers a ridiculous amount. Having said that I thing that may apply only to Mane and we'll put our foot down with the rest. I'm not convinced anyone will pay enough for Mane as he's not been at his best this season.
I've decided not to renew my season ticket. I'll become a member instead and then I can get priority for the major games (and the ones I can get to) and possibly even get a mate a ticket at the same time. I plan to be out of the country for a while at the beginning of next season, so I'd likely miss a few of the early games anyway - so it's not worth stumping up all that dosh for what could work out to be 15 or less games ......
If everyone is going to come on and tell us whether they are going to renew their season ticket or not next year, its gonna be a blooming' long and boring thread. Any ideas how to bring it back to something interesting? Maybe they should have delayed the announcement until we sign Yaya Toure and the Ox. ;-)
Is the renewal system out of line with how other clubs do it? I suppose there is always the option to delay and buy a "new" ticket in August, but even then the buying and selling may not have been completed. I think a lot of transfers will actually be delayed until after the Euros, owing to players looking to increase their stock and clubs trying to up the transfer fees. It's always an individual thing, but when I had a season ticket, I bought because I supported the club, not individual players. That isn't a dig at anyone, just my take on it.
You seem to be paying more than anybody else. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/tickets/season-tickets/ Perhaps there is a premium for miserable old gits.
£40 a game (assuming it doesn't cover the cups, but then most clubs are too tight to include cups) for what is presumably a senior season ticket, bearing in mind season tickets are meant to offer a substantial discount on match day prices? No, that's not the way to do business, neither is way pretty much every other club conducts business, as it is taking advantage of the loyalty fans for financial gain, particularly given the fact clubs receive such a huge amount revenue through TV rights that such high prices are not necessary but rather a case of charging excessive amounts because they can. (n.b. this isn't a dig at Southampton specifically)
I think some of you need to attend English comprehension lessons or it is a miracle some of you ever passed an exam. Read the last line again. I did not say I was not going to buy a season ticket. This thread asked can you give an example of where you would spend that kind of money and not know what you are going to get.
