If we lost 3-0 like Spurs the tie would pretty much be over. Our team wouldn't be capable of scoring 3 (minimum) and keeping a clean sheet against a team like Dortmund (imo)
Yep. Looking forward to a great European night. Just hope that we play to our potential and not treat them as some super mega team. Which they are not. They are not Bayern by a long distance so we should have less reverence. We are as good as them.
You played well tonight, a great result that. Can you finish the job next week? We'll see, I think they'll actually turn up next week like lol That referee was a fussy ****er btw, annoying as hell.
Can't disagree with any of that. I think our midfield could've been better in possession at times, there were a few dodgy square passes by our midfield that put us in trouble but they didn't desert their defensive responsibilities and recklessly charge forward like they usually do, so there was progress on that front. Klopp definitely has a decision to make now, if he drops the 'form' player and we get knocked out people will get pissy and say Origi should've started. I agree with starting Sturridge though, because if we have 1 chance during the game and its the difference between going out or going through I'd much rather it fall to Sturridge.
Can made one horrible pass across the back which could have gone wrong in so many ways, but luckily Lovren ( I think) managed to collect it. Overall the midfield was more disciplined and that helped the defence. Moreno was on a bungee at the start but managed to break free in his inimitable style at the end.
Moreno could have been sent off though and at least had a yellow for his horrific tackle. Can't wait till we get a new LB or Gomez is fit.
It was a shocker. He was lucky the lad made nothing of it. 2 feet off the ground and out of control, it was a red card if the lad rolls around on the deck
It was, the guy is a ****ing moron, can't wait to see the back of him and I actually think Sakho will be better without the worry of the brainless turd next to him.
Was a horrible tackle but luckily didn't actually catch the guy until he'd hit the ball and was on the ground. Couldn't have any complaints if he was sent off, not to get a yellow was crazy. I think as Tobes says, if the guy had gone down it was a yellow minimum, but as he stayed on his feet didn't really react it worked in morenos favour. Was as in such a ridiculous place as well, on their by line
The point is the guy didn't go down because he didn't make any meaningful contact with him. Yes, it was reckless to dive in that rashly, but to describe the tackle as horrific is just silly. If we are describing tackles with no meaningful contact as horrific then I can't begin to imagine the words being used to describe tackles where someone actually touches the other player.
So.... I know who number 2 is lol... Moreno got lucky that he missed. Henderson hasn't actually been back but McManamans ****e that his injury will do him a favour deserved the scorn the lanky bastard gave it....but Allen was great ..and has been for most of the time he's played this year. Our CB's were great. Original Midfield were crap bar Milners great flick on. Can takes too much time on the ball..makes too many wrong decisions and gives it away too much. Origi made Benteke look like a joke...did e erything he can do holding it up but has pace.... Mignolet still too timid. Moreno is awful....please get rid....running up the wing is great except he can do nothing NOTHING in defence. Arsehole. Clyne did a great job pushing their winger back. But awesome job in the words or our manager. We played a team he built vs a team he's coached for 8 months and competed. Diego...sorry for your loss.
No need for me to do any ratings now except to add: Ford was wasteful in the first half and missed the killer instinct in the second to finish the whole tie off. Clyne lost the ball too on many occasions in the second.
Interesting reading some of the comments on Moreno - bar the complete brainfart (still can't get my head around it!), he was very good both defensively and offensively, and should have got an assist. The full backs didn't attack that much and it highlights that Moreno can defend when he's not asked to venture that far forward. Now he needs to work on finding that balance and consistency if he wants to be a starter next season. Clyne was solid but he was horrible on the ball - I'm really surprised with how limited he is on the ball. I wouldn't be surprised if we look to improve up on him in the summer or in the following year as well. That's not to take away from his defensive ability because he is solid. Can continues to impress more and more defensively. When he's with Henderson, he plays a more disciplined and defensive role which is beginning to excel at. When Hendo came off, he ventured forward more and looked better all round. Shame he's suspended for the Stoke game. Shout out to Origi - I do have concerns over Sturridge playing a lone striker role and Origi will certainly give Klopp a selection headache. Origi did his job brilliant today - good target man, wasn't bullied, worked the channels and scored a crucial goal. In Dortmund, we needed his energy and work rate so that was a brave but excellent call by Klopp.
A slight concern - we've taken the lead in our last 3 games and failed to win. We're getting into some good positions but can't see it through to the finishing line.
