Davis being out means we can go all out attack. I'd go 4-3-3 with Mane and Long either side of Austin.

To be fair, the season finishes in 5 weeks.

If we go 5-3-2 in this the wing backs have got ot get forward as much as possible.

I mentioned it in the match thread against Leicester - the only times we loked in control of the game last weekend was when Cedric and Targett pushed forwards, it offered the midfielders an out-ball to the wings whereas when they stay back we lose the ball and have no options.

    However I'd rather see 4-4-2 or 4-3-3.

    Forster
    Cedric VVD Ftone Bertrand

    JWP Wanyama Classie Tadic

    Pelle Long

Subs: Stek, Martina, Yoshida, Romeu, Austin, Rodriguez, Mane

(Can easily be 4-3-3 by putting Tadic LW, Long RW, Pelle central)

They have got to go for the win from the start if they are to survive in the PL and that would suit us down to the ground.

He is shown on the training clips on the Ron interview, so guess he is available.
His involvement is reliant on the formation. I don't think we'll play three at the back against Newcastle

Still want Sissoko. Jeez, that bloke is going to waste. I'm sure Saints could turn him from a fantastic player once every six months to one in every two games. :)

    Merson says 3-1 Saints.

Obviously realises that the positive threads are back. :)

If they lose, they are basically ****ed, so I'm expecting a tough game

Me too. Their defence is pretty poor, but they can score goals. I expect both sides to score, and am not taking anything for granted.

I'll go for 3-2 Saints and hope that we score first.

Maybe so, only Jay and the coaches will know. But you can always take him off at half time/after 60 minutes. I think if we get into Newcastle early we'll have a better chance of rolling them over, hence why I'd start him and Long. They can interchange positions but I see JRod as a better striker than Long (If he can get back to where he was pre-injury), and I'd like to see him up top.

Unless we are desperate, I can't see them starting with JRod. Surely his first appearance will be as a sub with 20 mins to go. Better that way than to start with a player you intend to sub...which can limit your options if you need to use your subs for other positions due to events on the pitch.

Apart from the fact that Jrod hasn't done anything to deserve starting over Long, Pelle or Mane. I still think we will never see the Jrod of 13/14, we gambled on him coming back fighting fit this season and lost imo.

Interesting that Ronald feels that even someone as 'elderly' as Shane can still learn and improve at Southampton. He has certainly taken his opportunity to become the first striker on the team sheet.
