I think it would make more sense if other teams were to merge to provide decent competition in the SPL. If an Edinburgh United and a Dundee City made the SPL a 4 horse race, it would be a lot more interesting, more attractive for TV and sponsors, and bring in better players.
I'll give you a serious response to this thread. As you are an Arsenal fan, would you be happy merging with Spurs and being rebranded North London FC? I think pretty much answers your point. But i'll elaborate. In Poland and other clubs in Eastern Europe, football clubs don't only have 1 set of hooligans, they love the same football team but hate each other to the extent that they have to be positioned and opposite ends of the ground. Merging two clubs which such fierce rivalry would create exactly the same. Do you think the loyalists and republicans that attend these games are gonna gonna smile at each hight five and then say "What were we arguing about?"

A 4 horse race? What 2 more than the EPL! How would that be fair. Maybe Tottenham and the Arse and Liverpool and Everton merge to put a bit of pressure on Man U and Chelsea for a change... Maybe Man City could join Man U to make them the total front runner in the EPL.
Celtic and Rangers together..... i guess that would make for a mid table championship team here in England.. But in scotland the merged team would win everything and make scottish football even more of a joke..

Yeah, why don't we merge the Glasgow teams, merge the Edinburgh teams, the Dundee teams and merge Aberdeen with Inverness and maybe merge a few others, but not call them teams, but clans, it's the way forward, there would never be trouble that way.
