Any knowledgeable horse racing enthusiasts on this board? Who's backing what 'orse for the National? What's the most you've ever won on an 'orse bet? Gil I'm looking at you here... you must know your stuff. My bet for the national, Boston Bob ridden by Ruby Walsh 33/1
No idea on hosses, i go to the tipsters and see what they fancy as each way bets then i pick a couple from that pool.
I usually have a fun bet - had a couple of placed horses over the last few years -definitely more luck than judgement, my wife has somehow has picked the winner two years on the 'trot' ..I might just follow her selection this year - I tend to go for family names - your tip appeals as it was my dads name so might have a couple of quid on that too
Ditto. Not the gee-gees but I put my Master bets on last night. Couple of £5 E/Ws on Danny Willett and Zach Johnson, both on 66/1 (I think).
Love the Masters, I've gone for Bubba again and Schwartzel for my outside bet. The masters and the national are just like a lottery though, you see the favourites buckle almost every year under the pressure.
Not the faintest idea about horses. I used to put a tenner e/w on whatever I drew out of the sweep. Won £380 a couple of years back. Had a few places. As good a way as any really. Bob was my dads name and Ruby is my eldest grand daughter so that one`s a must.
Gonna have a bit on Des Champs, probably £5 E/W and another couple of nags at E/W. Hedging me bets like coz hate losing money. Never get round to betting on the golf but would have gone for Bubba, Jason Day or Rory. Prob not worth betting as these 3 would have been relatively short odds.
Won 144k one day at Hollywood Park. I was the lone winner of the pick 6 and also had the pick 4 10 times.
$144,000 I thought Gil was gonna be our biggest winner on the horses, he won over a grand last weekend on a trixie sort of bet. That's awesome, how did you spend it? Girls and booze I hope
It was quite the day. I used to play the Pick 6 on a regular basis. Have hit them 11 times. A year after this one, November 2010, I was busted and out of a job. Horse racing was always my first love. Handicapping my greatest skill. Unfortunately, discipline and money management are my greatest shortcomings. As Oscar Wilde once said, "I can resist everything but temptation".
I once won $10,000 on a on-line slot casino (888 dot com ) was few years ago, it was called 'spider slots' and 3 of 'em (spiders) just dropped in for the jackpot - I fell of my chair with shock - my mate had recommended me to play the casino via email because it mean't he got a $100 to play for free - he'd never won more than a $100 in any one bet.
I knew my career was coming to an end and I was on a bit of a gambling orgy. Tried to win a lifetime's worth of earnings at the window. I had some fun just afterwards, but I did clear up some debt and bought the wife a car. If I knew how to post a pic, there is one of me under a big sign congratulating the winner. The bet was made at an off track facility here where I live. Everyone in town knew within minutes. Hell, my old mates in Chicago knew within minutes.
That's awesome mate. Everything is bigger in The US, we're all banging on about the lads who have backed Leicester at 2500/1 and 5000/1 pre season with £10 bets.
Was gonna say about how much I won on Bubba when he won the first time, but having seen some of the others I'll just shut the hell up !!!
