McShane's out for the start of the season, due to a calf injury picked up in training, so we might have to bring someone in after all, at least on a short term loan. Kilbane looked poor at centre back last night and Bradley looked a little nervy at times, I think Nige will be worried about not having a better option available.
I think a centre back would not be a bad idea. Regardless of what is happening with McShane or Kilbane.
Kilbane being poor is very very generous. He was woeful. Got skinned 4 times and gave the ball away for their goal. It was embarassing the way they kept dribbling by him. I thought Bradley was excellent. We should stick with him.
You're right, I'm not sure why I was generous with him on this thread, I called him dire on the match thread.
The only club now for Kilbane is the job club with Pauline off league of gentlemen. Babysitting or bramble picking Kev take your pick.
ayala on a 3 month loan? with a possible purchase in january then, i still dont think we NEED another centreback but it could dramatically slow our season, ayala is too good for cover, id rather he rotate the centre backs if ayala came in, keep them fresh.
The Ayala link is pretty obvious. Could well happen, but I think we would be more likely to look at a developing youngster from a Premiership club,
Why not just bring Cooper back and save us the money? Ayala coming back would mean Chester on the bench, which would be a bad move on Nigels part.
Agree from what i have seen (Liverpool) and what i have heard on here Chester has been an animal in pre-season. I am all for him staying in our team from what i saw vs Liverpool he is even captain material.
We can't recall Cooper until January at the earliest. I'd agree moving Chester would be a mistake, I'd drop Hobbs ahead of Chester.
Ideally it would be Ayala and Chester, but NP likes to accomodate his signings (as seen with Mclean) so undoubtedly it would be Chester who makes way which is a shame. There's no point in moving Chester to CDM either because he is rubbish anywhere else other than CB. Maybe I'm been harsh on Hobbs but I think Chester is a whole level above him. I hope I'm proved wrong and he goes onto have a great season.
forget ayala, liverpool would only let him come on loan if he'd be starting games and we only need someone for cover. id look at some of the other young defenders from premier league clubs that have no chance of getting a game this season.
to be around a 1st team squad, making the bench every game, the odd league cup game etc. and of course for the chance of getting game time if one of our players gets injured. which is probably more than they'd get at their club.
