I agree with Halsey. Rescinding the red card was a mistake IMO. It does leave the door open for players to get away with dangerous tackles.

How Leicesters odds have changed throughout the season...

 

Excellent use of logarithms.

 

Spent years learning how to use log tables and have never once used them since leaving school. I can't even remember the point of them.

 

Very surprised this was overturned. Very interesting read into the politics of refereeing.

 

I'm not sure I ever quite got the hang of them. Total waste of time for the vast majority of children. Just an obscure example of how much of the general curriculum was a waste and still is a waste of time [not with logs anymore of course, but other disciplines and subjects].

 

A few years back I had to write a program on our lab system to calculate the base 10 logarithm of the post-prostatectomy PSA levels in men, so it could be displayed graphically for the surgeons' benefit. That reminded me that logarithms are still useful even in the age of computers!

 

Great! To make sure you knew them I and a couple of thousand other kids had to waste our time.

 

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who had to suffer them!

 

I learned algebra at school z + x = y. 50 years on and I still don't know y?

 

I suppose everyone has to learn things that turn out to be useless because no one should have doors closed to them. The average twelve year old probably has little idea what he/she wants to be. I switched to science after O levels and had to do my O level physics and chemistry at the same time as A level Botany and Zoology....whilst resitting O level maths.

Well that is amazing John Terry can write, but it looks like he might just have had a little bit of trouble spelling Schmeichel.

 

How many games has Chris Smalling played as a right back this season?

 

Probably couldn't bring himself to pick an Arsenal player.

Think that's a fair selection from him and will be pretty close to the leagues choice. Bertrand & VVD have outside chances for us, but Leicester and Spurs will dominate

 

For me Toby is the best CB this season, can't understand him not being chosen (better than Huth).

 

As you know, I'm not a fan of Clattenburg, but this is ridiculous. My first thought on seeing the tackle was "red card" and for it to be overturned on a 2-1 decision is demeaning for him and opens the door. I was also shocked to see that he was reffing Div 2 games! At the very least I'd have expected him to be PL or Championship. He likes attention in his games, yes, but he's nowhere near the worst ref we've seen at St Mary's this year and if Pierluigi Collina (and our Tom) think he's one of the best, who am I to argue?
