Maybe win the championship qualifies as winning something. Or winning the playoffs more likely, still unlikely though.
I was actually surprised just how many people were taken in by the drunken guff he spouted in that 'interview'................ a leopard never changes his spots, and all that. He doesn't give a **** now, he didn't give a **** then.
He did change his approach this season and let Charnley, Carr and McLaren spend some serious coin (which we had squirrelled away over the course of the last few seasons running the club on a shoestring). Unfortunately Ashley has a horrific track record of employing incompetent people at NUFC and they wasted the ****ing lot. I would still agree though, he's not that bothered about the club, he just wanted to keep the club in the Premier League. I don't think him caring is the problem, though. It's that he has never put the right people in charge to run the club properly. If Carr and Charnley remain next season, regardless of the division we are in, then we are ****ed.
Ashley only sanctioned the big spend because he **** himself last season when we nearly went down. If we had finished comfortable mid table it would have been another summer and January of very little transfer activity. But Ashley being true to form, gets a Championship reject 'coach' in on the cheap along with his other bargain basement 'footballing board' and those years of transfer inactivity have been wasted in a few short months. Millions squandered on players that just don't cut the mustard, millions spent on players in the wrong positions. Millions now being spent trying to get us out of the **** by throwing money into Rafa's pockets too. The guy must surely have a modicum of inelegance. Surely he can see that, no matter how cheap they are to employ, Charnley and Carr are way, way, way out of their depth. The couple of million he thinks that he has saved sticking with those two arseholes will seem like really small beer next season when he is pumping another 30 - 40 million in just to keep us afloat. Its almost comical. The whole upper management structure from Charnley down to the coaches should have gone last season. How the **** they have survived is beyond me. Ashley cares not one jot about the club, but he will definitely care about the money he has spent on it. Quite why he would leave such an investment in the hands of those incompetent fools is beyond me.
