I almost agree with this team, only I would take Maguire out and put Clucas in. Including 3 Centre Halves is too defensive for me!
I don't think we will. Although I would like to know why he hasn't been in contention, ditto Diomande. You know, just a straight up answer from the staff instead of handily skirting around the question "well I've got Maloney and I've got Abel". And?
I think you might have mentioned that already. Clucas has been largely rubbish for the past six weeks and we couldn't get any more defensive, we only managed two shots on target last night.
There is no answer. There is no final assault for the summit. Same old, same old. We might make the play offs, we might not. And then.......... Nothing.
There have been a few disappointing performers over the last six weeks, but I don't see how adding an extra defender helps us to be more attacking!
Lets go for it! .........Jakupovic Taylor....Bruce....harry....Tyson Elmo....Hayden...Meyler...Maloney .........akpom.....diomande
Allows two of the defenders to push forward, in theory that is of course. No doubt we'd end up with our wing backs playing as normal full backs if we did go 352
Adding an extra defender wouldn't usually but I really rate Maguire. He strides out with the ball at his feet, has a great long range shot and he's a big unit. Having him in the side puts pressure on the opposition and our good run was largely with him in the side.
In the 352 the wing backs have to play both as fullbacks and midfielders. So we have 5 defenders when we are defending and 3 when attacking. 352 would do for me, particularly away from home. The battle is often won and lost in midfield and we tend to get out numbered in there.
Mac Dawson Maguire Davies Elmo Jake Meyler Hudd Robbo Snodgrass Hernandez That's what I'd do. I'd also give Maloney a bit more game time & boot Powell's arse either onto the training ground or back to Sandbach Maccy Ds & United.
It's all down to confidence in my book. Has Bruce has got the ability to fire the side up for Huddersfield and bring home all three points,my guess is possibly yes,but can we do it a few more times to cement a home second leg in the play offs? Form suggests we are currently play off fodder, however,City never did do what the punters think too often, and how many times have City been coupons wreckers (as the old man use to say)? Point I am trying to make here is I would wager few have a clue whats going to happen over the next few weeks, especially IF we start scoring again.
It's not adding a defender, it's freeing up two wing backs, a particularly good idea when your players are far better wing backs than they are full-backs.
We will see him again, banging in the goals against us. He won't get into a Prem team so will be back inflicting damage on us in the Championship next season
Here's a discussion board that explores ideas on tactics - some good, some not so good, as always. Here's another way of looking at it This is interesting and puts it into real life context on how there are options, not just on players but on balance, also. There will be stuff on specific teams doing what I have tried to explain, I will post when I have the time to find it.
