I'm sure scouts have been aware of Flint since his Alfreton days, so I don't automatically equate this to an offer being imminent.

It would be something of a punt for any Premiership side to go for him, but if the money were right...

Who told you that? Red Robins brother.

On what basis of fact do you base this gem of a comment?

Villa will probably sort themselves out close season and go straight back up. Hope not as they will bring thousands to AG and improve the coffers.

I believe that if he did leave he'd go to a prem club like West Brom or Everton who are interested, they'd likely better wages that villa could offer in the championship. Also Villa sent out Baker on loan telling you all you need to know about the number of CBs they have and how much they value Flints type of CB

Flint is not a prem centre half, good championship defender.
Needs to improve to become a prem player.

You sound all bitter again Victor.. has the Johnson disease finally kicked in and sent you all doodally again or has Red Robin usurped your 'top moaner' of the board title and you're not having it?

Absolutely as he lacks pace...but there again look at John Terry. A good honest pro but if we are offered millions we should take it. 63 goals against this season tells us that we have defensive weaknesses and Flint is part of that.

Funny, I think it'll be the exact opposite. Lets just say Villa, Newcastle and Sunderland all come down. IMO Newcastle will do what they did last time and head straight back up, Sunderland (if they keep Allardyce) will have the manager to get themselves out of this league, 1st time of asking? maybe, would fancy them to be top 6. Villa though, I think will struggle. Won't go down and probably wont be in a scrap but mid table/bottom half is where im thinking. Does make you think though, whilst yes it would be great to play those 3 teams but by **** knuckles will this league be hard! It's turning into a 2nd prem, the only bright side is the teams coming up! Fancy us taking 6 points from any of the top 6 in league 1.

As for Flint..... I think he has what it takes to be a prem player. If he goes to the right team that is. If Everton/west ham come knocking I would honestly be happy for Flint to leave, ok maybe ot happy but it will give him the chance to play for a proper football club and a very good manager and he'll also be at a club where if he performs well he'll catch the eye of England. We'll also get a decent fee from either of them as well. West Brom and Villa though can do one, would hate to see Flint leave us for another champ side or Pulis. Although he'd probably do well under Pulis he'll always be fighting relegation at west brom and will probably be found out and back at this level with 2 years.

Flint has been a good servant for us. It was not so long ago that he was playing non league football, but so was Jamie Vardy. Talk of him going to Everton as a likely replacement for John Stones is a bit wild though. Baker will be going back, put 2 and 2 together, I would say Villa were the more likely. Yes, they will be championship, but could not doubt pay him a lot more.

If he does end up in the prem, it would be with most fans blessing and thanks for his time here.

One very important thing to do though would be to get our new signings in first, BEFORE clubs add another £1m or 2 to prices if we have some decent money to spend....

He's quality, 100 games on the trot, never injured, scores goals and defends and attacks set pieces with consistency.. Why sell for £2m?

It would cost us that to replace him, a first ball winning centre half is gold dust, we have been looking for one for years, if we are serious about kicking on now he's the type of player we need to keep.. they are very rare even in the Prem, there's not many good Central defenders about..
