That's how bad it was in the end. We started well, gave a goal away and never regained our early composure. We had no composure in front of their goal, and Diame's wasted chance (while he thought about going down for a soft penalty he forgot how to shoot) sums up why the midfield and defence seem more worthy of praise. I haven't seen us so successfully attacked on the right (our left) for some time, which is down to Clucas and Robbo. Both are learning and needed more help than Davies gave them. On the right I thought Dave did well until he was reckless (and I'd like to see that again to know if it should have been given), but Snodgrass for me was a shadow of last Saturday's player. This was a game where I'd have subbed Robbo at half time, put Dave on the left and brought Elmo on as RB. Why we didn't change around at half time I don't know.
I honestly think that he believes if he sticks what he thinks are the 11 best players on the pitch, they will win/turn it around. Tactics are not in his remit.
It's more a reflection of how bad the others were, it was Robertson's worst game for us, Clucas hasn't had a good game for six weeks and Davies looked like he was playing in his first professional game.
Which probably proves he's not a coach. If you use half time to prepare a team for the second half, give them their instructions and send them out geed up to carry them out it has to be better than waiting 5 minutes into the half and bringing on a sub... Then waiting a bit longer for the next one and so on.
