Oft used football phrases and their definitions

Journeyman - A player that doesn't quite make the grade and instead becomes a member of a US rock tribute band.

 

Rabona - a Scotsman's unexpected erection in a public place

 

Big Unit..................Fat ****.

 

Supporter - One who burns effigies of his team's manager and players.

 

When talking about defenders:

"He's good going forwards and..." - He's **** at defending
"He's good on the ball and..." - He's **** at defending


When talking about strikers:

"He works hard and..." - He won't score many goals.
"He's one for the future" - He won't score many goals, and the manager is mates with his dad.

 

"She's got a great personality."

She's a mess that doesn't have the looks go get herself a bloke by herself.

 

"Brilliant" shot, save,tackle, move etc:
Something your granny could do if she had a pair of football boots on and was paid for it.

"Brilliant" :
The only word in a commentator's or pundit's or football presenter's lexicon.

 

"He's a character" - He's a **** who needs a punch in the face.
