Reina Kelly Carra Agger Johnson Henderson Gerrard Adam Downing Suarez Carroll Reina Kelly Carra Agger Johnson Cazorla Gerrard Lucas Mata Suarez Aguero Honest answers only please!!! Now I dont like critising Kenny, but IMO, hes made some big mistakes reagrding transfers in the last 6 month, Suarez apart.Kenny could have bought the likes of Aguero,Mata and Cazorla, for the same money as what we have bought Hendo,Downing,Adam and Carroll. And IMO it is Kenny and not Comolli who has the final say on transfers, if Comolli had the final say I think we would have seen one or two foreigners With the Mata /Aguero I feel we would BE FAVOURITES for the League this year, nstead with the signings we have made I feel we will struggle to make top 4 I will be the first to say I was wrong if we dont lose any of the first ten games, but I feel come October we will be about 8th and way off the pace already The obsession with British players is crazy, as they are lower in quality.Even age isnt important it seems, if so why have we bought Downing and not Mata, Downing if he proves to be a flop will have minimal sell on value in 2 years, where Mata would still have some sell on value I was really excited at the end of last season, but the transfers have really LOWERED my expectation , when they should be lifting it
If only life was that simple. We should of bought Messi and Ronaldo too. Why the **** are people complaining? Our squad looks very healthy in comparison to recent times.
Football is not all about individuals, Kenny has bought what he thinks are the right players to move the club on. Individual talents like Aguero are always important but a team full of superstars doesn't always work. Hopefully the players he has brought in will have the right mental attitude and will know the club and what an honour it is to play for Liverpool.
I can understand your concern but we've bought players with the right attitude - players that WANT to play for Liverpool and not for money. Not only are they pretty good technically, but they are hard workers and put in a shift every match. Yes, we need a couple of stars like Luis Suarez but we need to compliment them with hard workers. Also, we've bought players in positions that we needed to strengthen. We've not bought big players just for the sake of it.
I agree that football is a team game, but firstly if the individuals are of higher quality, it increases the chances of the team being higher quality Secondly , if I had posted this article at the start of the summer, there wouldnt have been ONE person who would prefer the Downing/Adam 11 Now we have signed those individuals, everyone seems to be defending them( Dont get me wrong I will get behind them hundred percent when they play for us ), when we could have signed MUCH HIGHER QUALITY, for the same prices Like I say, KK has made some bizarre moves this summer.I wonder if everyone will be still be defending Kenny in October and at Xmas!!!!!!
Maybe you should take up management? Personally, i like Kenny as our manager and trust his judgements
IMO , the most important thing we should be looking for , in TEN FOOT NEON LIGHTS Is QUALITY not attitude, Christian Pouksen and Djimi Traore have a great attitude
This isn't a footie manager game is it? you can't just decide who you want and they're there on your doorstep as long as you've got the money. Before the manc wums descend and rip us to shreds on this we have to acknowledge we may not be a sufficiently attractive proposition to some big name players at the moment. We're building for the future- a work in progress, we can't expect the finished article in one go.
The thing we really missed last season was that little bit of magic in the final third, the ability to break sides down, not someone who runs for 90 mins Mata,Aguero,Cazorla would have provided that in bucket loads compared to Carroll,Hendo,Adam,Downing, teams in the Prem at least wouldnt have been able to get the ball off us
Funny, he says the same about you. So what else have you been wrong about previously? What an over-simplification! There's an obsession with Mata, too. But yeah, let's get Torres back. Or how about signing Ibrahimovic? Foreign players are unproven and will want to return to wherever they come form, as we see every transfer window. So to oversimplify a generalisation a la you, foreign players are all whiney, don't settle and sulk to be released back to their boyhood clubs, unlike Brits. Mata, if he proves to be a flop, will be a flop and you'll have something else to apologise for. While resale value is rightly an issue we're not buying solely on that criteria. We won't buy 33 year olds but Downing has just turned 27. So in two years he'll fetch what a 29-yr old would fetch, which is still a decent price. The premium on Premier League experience is like the extended warranty on your car or laptop: it's an insurance premium to lower risk. When we've had to buy in the lower ends of the market for so long, taking risks on imports and keeping only those who worked out, then eliminating that risk is a Good Thing. So, Mr Manager, what do you intend to do about Mata's need for too much time on the ball? He won't get that in the PL and we'll have another Aquilani on our hands who wants to leave. Mata will suit Arsenal's style better. It seems he might be going there despite several reports out of Valencia for the last few weeks that he wasn't for sale. So Arsenal will pay a huge premium for him, like he was English but with no guarantee or warranty. They won't get him for the same price as Downing, Henderson or Adam. So you should apologise for being wrong on that score, too.
Not so much of a problem once kenny took over, much more of a problem all season was the 44 league goals conceded.
DayDoDoeDontDayDoe, what do you hope to accomplish by posting this article? Stir up an argument? Make it us all turn on Kenny? It's not going to happen mate.
obv the 2nd team is better imo but to have got all 3 of cazorla, mata and aguero you would have to be so fortunate. liverpool have a decent team imo, the only thing id be unhappy with is henderson as all of downing adam and carrol will do a job
Buying British doesn't neccessarily guarantee that they will stay with the club forever. Look at Michael Owen and Steve McManaman. Re. English players command a higher fee because they have 'Premier League experience' is nonsense. (I agree in that it exists but I don't think its justified). Look at Konchesky and Joe Cole. Two players have played their entire careers in the Prem League and how did they turn out?
Carrol went to liverpool for money as he was a newcastle supporter, not cause he likes liverpool henderson went to liverpool for money and a shot at champions league not because he likes liverpool he supports sunderland i highly doubt adam went to liverpool because he supports them or feels privlaged to play for them, there were reports earlier in the year linking him to man united for example, he went for money and a shot at champions league also. and downing probably same reason as the rest. aguero would have went for money and champions league and the others would have all gone for the same reason. just cause those players are british doesnt mean they support liverpool, or feel proud to player for them while others wouldnt. everyone knows who liverpool are and alot of players would feel proud to play for them not just english ones.
I can understand your concerns and i think most of us would much rather of had Aguero and Mata than the people we've bought this summer but I'm not totally sure that even if they were our targets that we would have been able to get them, I think our ability to attract players with such a high reputation has been slightly diminished for now through not being in the champions league for a few years and not even being in Europe this season. I'm not overly convinced by the signings we've made either as I've never rated Downing and I've not been convinced with hendo when I've seen him play which does make me slightly worried considering how much we've spent so much on them both. I think Adam will do OK and we've needed a dead ball specialist for a while now, but as others have said its always a risk signing over seas players no matter how much quality they have as you don't know how they will do over here.We all called for Dalglish to be appointed manager and now is the time to trust him and his judgments about what's best for the team as I'm sure a man of his footballing experience knows better than i do.
You also have to remember the additional costs that we incur when we sign a player. Yes - the initial transfer fee of Aguero and Carroll are similar but we would end up paying an extra £x amount in salary if we signed Aguero instead (I think there would an additional £30m over the period of the contract). Same applies to Mata and Cazorla. Not only that - do these players actually want to come to Liverpool? Wil lthey show the fight and desire to play for the shirt? We can't offer European football so attracting these players is even more difficult. I'm happy with our signings - they may not be world beaters in their own right but they add more quality to the team, quality that we didn't have before. Hopefully, we can get back into the top 4 again and supplement the hard working British players with a few more flair players like Suarez. It will take time but we're heading in the right direction.
For the last time this is real life...not football manager, could some people get that into their thick skulls and stop clogging up this board with such pointless articles..its going to turn into BBC606.
Football is not about collecting names, which you clearly think it is. Come back when you understand this better.
